Public transport will become a necessity if they want to put in place the 2030 goals. As it stands we do not have the charging point infrastructure for home charging put in place nor capacity to install numbers needed, this is before we consider the electricity capacity to charge. that coupled with cost of electric cars will mean many of us will have to resort to public transport .
This is a long term view though.
I'm with you on this. Having seen the electric buses being rolled out for the Circus and investment/cash incentives that the government provided to help fund charging points I think we will see this repeated to achieve transport goals. Not everyone will be able to afford EV cars and so will rely on other methods of transport.
CCF would be my next port of call depending what I need to buy. I am serviced by the Edmonton branch and they have no issue directing my needs to other branches. It is very much down to the staff and your relationship. in the last 12 months and especially this year my turnover and orders with them have increased and I am buying for various different jobs all over the UK. Re their transport.....we tend to get what we need on time or within 1 or 2 days depending on location and time. planning for jobs is key and when i order in advance i have little issues.
I'm a materials buyer and use them all daily, what I tend to find is there are shortages in various areas of studding/metalwork material, however SIG have a network that they can pull from and the majority of time I don't need to go elsewhere. It is often the logistics that is the issue because every sector of the buildings industry is busy there is a lack of transport to shift materials.
