Do we even know if SGS is actually negotiating any deal(S) or if they’ve abandoned AZD1656 and are now focusing on
their next trial they recently announced?
It’s been super quiet from all sides. Is that good, bad, where are we at?
Recently a new director was appointed in VELA, plus there is mention of an additional director being appointed in the future.
I can only assume that this will mean JN has more time for VELA and if not perhaps these new directors will take over and
guide this company and its share price back up to where it’s supposed to be…

The Board of Vela (AIM: VELA) announces that, further to the announcements released by the Company on 31 July 2020 and 23 July 2021 regarding the appointment of an additional director, Emma Wilson has been appointed as an Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.
Mrs Wilson qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001. Since qualification Emma has been employed in industry in senior finance positions and in large and small practices. In 2010 Emma established her own accounting practice, Bailey Wilson, which serves a variety of types and sizes of businesses, including clients listed on AIM and on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.
As a director, Emma will take principal responsibility for the Company's finance and company secretarial functions, which have previously been contracted to Bailey Wilson but which will now be taken 'in-house'. Additionally, Emma will play a full part in the other responsibilities of the Board and, in particular, will participate equally with the existing directors in investment appraisal and monitoring. It is expected that the time commitment required by the Company will allow her to continue to manage her practice.
As announced in its market update of 23 July 2021, the Company still intends to appoint a further non-executive director to the Board in due course. Further announcements will be made at the appropriate time.
Brent Fitzpatrick, Chairman of Vela, commented: "I am delighted to welcome Emma to the Board. She is a seasoned professional and brings wide-ranging business and functional experience. We look forward to her valuable insight and specialist skills and I am confident she'll make a significant contribution to the Vela board."
Can’t edit - so I forgot to add - I know AZD1656 is different but if they have something that can prevent it all together then you don’t need AZD1656 either for COVID sufferers and it might only be used for diabetic patients who have a need to bring levels under control - but will this then be rushed through or years in development.
How do we know that they’re working behind the scenes, there aren’t any updates from SGSC either and Astra Zeneca
has just got another AZD lodged for emergency use… they may as well have put it in a cupboard right next to the empty holder it came from in the first place…
“” AstraZeneca PLC said Tuesday that it has requested an Emergency Use Authorization to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Covid-19 prophylaxis AZD7442. If granted, AZD7442 would be the first long-acting antibody to receive an EUA for Covid-19 prevention, AstraZeneca said. Data from a Phase 3 trial showed a 77% reduction in the risk of developing symptomatic Covid-19 with long-acting antibody combination, the pharmaceutical company said.””
Starting to feel that the board is more than happy to milk nearly £175k in wages each year from this and
if there’s a lack of funds to do so, just issue some more shares…
Too harsh or misguided? Perhaps. Whatever it is , wouldn’t mind having a directorship here myself, not much to do or say,
just ride it and wait for the next years renumeration to land.
I mean their contact number is a mobile phone, and at the company headquarters there’s not even a name on the door.
I agree - but it should at least maintain a level and not chip away at its own share price everyday - upon good news, money in the bank and other investments that are starting to pick up, VELA should be steady at least and possibly slightly climbing rather than this continuous downward trend. Could do with our fearless leader JN opening his mouth for a change rather than hiding and sitting on his hands.
Hope that doesn’t affect any commercialisation plans SGSC has with Astra Zeneca, as you’d think they’d have plenty
of capital to develop anything they’d like from their COVID vaccine revenue.

Oxford jab creator says vaccine development has gone ‘backwards’
Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert says her team is struggling to raise money to develop vaccines against already known diseases.
This could be quite a significant news story for AZD1656, to be granted emergency use straight away, if there’s
a big spike in COVID patients becoming diabetic whilst in hospital and during their recovery at home.

The SP change went from -10% to -6.67%, that’s what I’m basing it on.
SP went to 7.
84 million shares were bought before the weekend too, but they’d be sold at a loss if it’s the same ones.
Perhaps they’ve doubled up their share total from last week.
