It states that the "Ring Fenced" assets are NOT included. Anyone know where this leaves Lloyds as it is 95% approx ring fenced??

A strong end to 2020 has paved the way for America’s top banks to buy back more than $10bn of their shares in the first quarter, as the loan losses of the pandemic year recede and capital markets fire on all cylinders.

JPMorgan Chase is expected to lead the way with buybacks, spending around $3.2bn on its own shares by the end of March, based on analysts’ forecasts compiled by the FT. The remaining $7.4bn or so is spread across Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo.

Analysts expect the buybacks to come in close to the maximum permitted under a Federal Reserve decree in late December, which surprised investors by allowing banks to resume buybacks and return billions to shareholders while also flattering banks’ earnings per share.

Although,

The challenger banks tend to be more highly rated since they are seen as more nimble, not having the legacy branches, staff and systems of the traditional High Street banks. There may well be consolidation across the banks and the whole of the UK market. The UK is still ‘cheap’ relative to its global peers. We have started to see this in the proposed MGM bid for Entain (Ladbrokes/Coral). I haven’t seen anything recently on the dividend. However, they will look to re-instate it get back to quarterly as soon as possible. If the recovery continues and the economy starts to reopen following the pandemic without too many bumps in the road I would anticipate it will reinstate dividends and move towards 50-55p more swiftly than you anticipate, even potentially this year.

Lloyds going nowhere for a good few years.

To continue to recover it will need inflation expectations to pick up and for interest rates to start to rise. I have consulted with our analyst who comments;
‘banks are over regulated, over reserved, over capitalised, central banks and auditors tell them what to do and seem to endlessly prepare them for the last crisis (whilst tying down a big ball and chain on their growth potential), they are also potentially liable to being hit with another PPI type claim and as an investment can be completely overlooked until we get back to some form of rate normalisation.
Perhaps waiting for some form of rate normalisation to get back to ‘normal’ as it’s a key driver of net interest margin for banks.

Bad decisions with PPI , his/there bonus awards, withdrawing from International markets. Look at Barclays, Metro, Santander, Virgin etc etc.

A break up and individual listing of the 4/5 main components! That's all folks ??????. That will give you an average increase. It's worthless in its current form!!

Some people are stuck in this complete ruin of a share. The CEO has completely wreak this share by withdrawing from other countries instead of developing them, UK will have troubles for a while yet!!

FTSE up 2.6% LBG down, not want to be negative, but this stock is a lost sole otherwise known as CARP!! Totally and complete rubbish!!

All I know as FACT is: RSA sold for £6.50+ Per share & Metro bank share price is higher than LBG, something is wrong ?!! ?? or something big is coming, not holding my breath on LBG share price going as high as Metro, that's a dream ?? so something is wrong??? Comments ???

Break LBG up, list individual components and release the capital to share holders, would HMG allow that? cynical me says no chance!! Or full takeover by a US big bank, maybe JPM Chase?!??
No short term investor here as been holding for over 13 years and ex employee, 13 + years of loses, many of us! I really feel a loss in saying UK Bank shares are in investable. !! Bit like the UK at the moment!

The former was smashed after investing in travel outlets in a year when people stayed at home. Lloyds was a leveraged bet on the economy growing – only it did the opposite, compounding the loss. An 11th stock pick last year, Glencore, fell 1pc.
