I am pleasantly surprised at the strength of this price. Each time it looks like we may sell off, it does tend to fight back. I get the impression, and it's obviously a subjective statement, that It's almost as if the market is conscious of future developments to come and is fearful of NOT being exposed to GGP stock give or take the usual intra-day comings and goings

I wonder if GGP is contractually 'allowed' to offer its 25% of Havieron to all bidders or whether NCM has first refusal and if GGP aren't happy then go to mining or indeed offer the 25% to a non-Newcrest miner? just musing

The two weeks on, two weeks off FIFO roster it brought in for its entire FIFO workforce during the peak of the pandemic is a key part of the review with Rio Tinto looking to gradually revert FIFO rosters across its operations to what they were over the coming weeks.

Rio Tinto's Perth office, including the Central Park office is to reopen from June 2.

However, prior to returning to work staff will have to complete a pre-entry health questionnaire and being subject to temperature checks before returning to work.

There will also be social distancing requirements in the Perth offices and staggered arrival times to mitigate transmission risks.

Rio Tinto Iron Ore chief executive Chris Salisbury said the COVID-19 pandemic had changed the way the company ran its business.

"We know that we will need to coexist with COVID-19 for some time, however, without compromising our commitment to health and safety, we will slowly start to implement changes to our business in line with the easing of government restrictions," he said.

"An appropriate range of measures and controls will remain in place to keep our operations running safely, ensuring we can continue to make a strong contribution to the Western Australia and Australian economies at a very challenging time."

I'm not privy to the contractual details of this hedge that newcrest's taken out against a % of current and future production from Telfer though if the contract relates specifically to production from the Telfer processing facility irrespective of the source origin of the ore then that idea may not get off the ground...so does the hedge relate to simply ore from the Telfer mine processed at the Telfer processing facility or does it relate specifically to the ore from the mine itself irrespective of where the ore is processed and then shipped for turning into ingots or whatever they're called....I don't know the answer...just an amateur throwing ideas around and trying to get 'inside the thought process' of Biswas

And that Telfer hedge contract is now an even larger liability on the balance sheet and the higher POG rises the net loss of revenue realised will rise...I wonder how much it would now cost Newcrest to buy back that hefty hedge contract at current gold prices?
