You tend to find when the main indexes roar we see rotation away from natural resource stocks (POG, CEY, HOC etc) into more conventional company stocks. Many large goldies are down today and GGP is now not a minnow so we will get dragged down as well

You can almost see the rotation of capital before your very eyes

The beauty of Sprott's involvement is that they are a SPECIALIST fund manager that are so 'in tune' with how the market values natural resource companies (gold, copper, silver etc). They are one of the best. They are not a jack of all trades. They 'know the score', as it were

Another stock that got upgraded today by UBS is gold miner Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX: NCM).

Many ASX gold producers like Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX: EVN) and Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX: NST) have been outperforming with the gold price, but Newcrest is lagging behind.

UBS thinks this isn’t justified and is urging investors to rotate into Newcrest, which it upgraded to “buy” from “neutral”. This is the first time the broker has rated Newcrest a buy since August 2012!

“We have changed our thesis on Newcrest based on our in-depth work on Red Chris and Havieron,” said the broker.

“The inclusion of these projects challenges market perceptions that production is peaking in 2020-21 which was also a component of our prior Sell thesis.

“These projects can materially change market estimates.”

UBS lifted its price target on Newcrest by 6% to $35 a share.

Sprott have been to Havieron and studied cores from drilling. I would bet they've been over to Australia again to see events on the ground and this may explain their decision to take an equity stake at 10p...

Is that weight in the number of shares it owns as a % of the fund or weight as per the $ value of their GGP holding?

Systematic exploration of 13 targets across Paterson Central is underway with a clear strategy to discover Havieron-type deposits.

A drilling rig is being contracted now for a maiden drilling program to begin in July with steady news flow expected from the project for the remainder of 2020.'
