VRB Energy has completed the commissioning of Phase 1 of the Hubei Zaoyang 10MW/40MWh Utility-Scale Solar and Storage Integration Demonstration Project, with a 3MW 12MWh vanadium-redox-battery energy-storage-system (VRB-ESS) taking up load.

“I am delighted to see the commissioning and operation of the largest capacity vanadium redox battery built in China to date,” said Robert Friedland, Chairman of VRB Energy. “This project represents a key step in applying China’s rich vanadium resources to renewable energy development that will transform the energy industry and help alleviate environmental problems,” he said.

And sorry, when did the SP take a hammering? We have seen a drop in V price, the Christmas quiet period and intense selling coupled with shorting and we aren't far off all time highs. If anything it's shown how incredibly resilient it is of late.

Each to their own, but I honestly don't see how anyone can suggest a share price that has gone from 2p to 40p in 2 years has taken a hammering.

I really don't get why this is frustrating. Clearly there is a strategy being followed. Why not see that and realise that Fortune is invested in delivering value. He isn't watching the share price go down and wondering whether he should throw RNS' at it haphazardly. He is, as any good business is, working to a plan.

I honestly think this FB thing is a total non-story. It's also a bit gross, and very insensitive for this families photos to be shared on here to be honest.

It's about the quantity mined and the opacity of the market. It's relatively small compared to many others and as we know from trying to get robust pricing information, it isn't exactly transparent. It's a lack of knowledge that perpetuates that myth more than anything.

ASOS, Amazon or a BMN type rise...

(Before anyone simplistically notes Amazon aren't on AIM I am referring to the general opportunity for exponential compounded gains)

Scenario A) invest £100k in BMN in 2017, large base stake and add on dips.

Scenario B) invest £100k trading multiple shares in a diversified portfolio within the same timeframe.

It's not hard to see which result would ultimately have been more fruitful. Your risk is always more spread in scenario 2, but as much as you might mitigate risk through diversification, you also mitigate profit and add a different kind of risk by relying on yourself making a continual stream of great, and inevitably less researched choices.

Some people want to invest to pay the bills. Some people want to invest to make a significant amount of money. For me, AIM takes advantage of the former because bills mean deadlines and the stock market doesn't work to your own timescales. AIM offers the chance to find an ASOS, Amazon or a BMN and to see a lifetime of compounded gains on a more regulated market happen in a much shorter timeframe. Yes it's hard to find one and hold and many don't. But when you do it's hard to argue against that being the most effective way to make money on AIM. And for the risk involved 10% just isn't worth it.
