moni - I have said it for years. The City is conflicted end of. The fact that trades appear as a by or sell or a dunno based on the mid price is just laughable. Either a trade is a buy or sell. Add to that off market bull carp (its to maintian an orderly market). 30% drops on the AIM because a bunch of MM's decide its right (Volatility is good for business - who for them). MM's work on the spread - well seen 40%+ movement inside an hour whilst a CEO was giving a llive presentation. Shorting well plain nonesense - liquidity. I could go on.

As for the NHS we created a market of trusts & CCGs. Well how much did HMG wipe off the debts of acute trusts last year? Complete failure of open market introduced due to a number of reasons including mgmt capability, economic demographics etc. This could have been done a differing way but hey what the heck do I know.
