At the same time there will be a corresponding provision in liabilities. re "special dividend - SD". The SP should rise to the effective value of the deal at transaction date & then will re adjust back down to the pre-announcement level when the dividend is paid. These assets are not valued on the BSheet. So for the Spec Divi route, the agreed sales value of the acquirer will result in an increase in the Bsheet value to be immediately be offset in the BSheet by a libaility provision re spec divi. I am guessing that the SP will move to a new level & then back down to pre-announcement level pro rata when the divi is paid. Depending on deal timelines it could all be fairly quick process.

Even though the assets are not on the BSheet they have to go through the books as they have to "monetised" for accounting purposes when the transaction is executed.

Virtually all buys this morning with SP a smidge up. Guessing we will see large after hours sells which = hopefully Invesco.
