Transitman, each time I contact whichever council it is that's dealing with a planning application I want to comment on, I tell them why I can't then proceed with my comment, after all, it could be a family member who opens a particularly dangerous package next time, and the risk really wouldn't be worth it. I hope that this reason will filter through to the decision-makers, and make them realize what a bunch of scum the protestors really are, so they will give their comments the credibility they deserve.
So I am directly silenced by them, but there's more than one way to skin a cat.

A couple of years ago I made a comment on a planning application (I think it was Wressle?), arguing for permission to be granted. In order to be able to make the comment, I had to provide my address. This was then published on the council website with my comments. Lo and behold, I received a nasty package in the post with an anti-fracking leaflet.
I asked the council to remove my address from my comments, and they said they couldn't, I'd have to withdraw my comments completely, which I did.
I still enquire when comments are requested for relevant planning applications if my address has to be published, and they always say it will, so I don't comment. It may be something more unpleasant than shlt I get in the post next time!

This is one of the reasons I'm not keen on Stinky Pete and his mates.

I'll be off again. It's such a relief to escape this venomous snake pit. There are so many ******s trying to disillusion shareholders on these bulletin boards that, however much you know it's BS, they still leave a bad taste and doubts. I'll stick to my own research, and occasionally look in to remind myself how unpleasant some people are. West Newton is looking excellent.

I don't think the protestors are going to have the slightest influence over progress at West Newton, Heidi. It's a lost cause for them now, but they'll still want to target the shareholders via these boards, to vent their frustration and encourage us to sell.

I'm sorely tempted to fade into the background and spend more time in my garden. Mind you, I've said this to myself so many times before, but get dragged back when I read the outright lies from you know who, and his aliases. Anyway, I'll still look in to check you're okay, Heidi. x
