Another well timed sell by me. Not.

Banked some profits because I’m leveraged on pmo,decided I’m going to sit and watch this for a few days until oil figures hopefully show a draw.
Just thought I’d declare my position and hope nobody listens to the doom and gloomers, I still think pmo is going to be a whole different animal as soon as there’s more stability with the price of oil.

I actually read through one of marathons method statements for past decommissioning and they said the rig itself was supporting to much marine life to remove like you said, it also said a lot of sub sea structures which would require divers to go down to would be to much risk to human life so wouldn’t be an acceptable risk to take.
If this is the case the majority of Decom costs will be slashed massively in the future and I think AA does too, I remember him saying “you don’t pay an architect to demolish a house”.

Also I have read an article somewhere that bp and other majors actually plan on spending up to 1B in carbon capture systems coming out of teeside in the near future so that would be interesting to see if it does go ahead.

What do you think about North Sea decoms going forward? I personally don’t think they will amount to half as much as stated similar to in your post.
I think carbon capture will really help us out, it’s the only way we can buy time for a transition to cleaner fuels or renewables over the next 10 years while reducing co2 output, into the atmosphere at least.

Exactly that NEW, we are as much prey as we are predator in this climate I feel.
The point I made about pmo wasn’t suggesting I would be happy with £20, I wouldn’t be devastated either as we all should be back in substantial profit at that but it doesn’t represent true value. I was just questioning if anyone can think of any reasons why PMO wouldn’t try have a pop at these figures?

To add I think the surety bonds done by AA was an incredibly timed move with this whole situation. As I understand it, it maintains unrestricted cash in a time when I think DSA’s could have forced us to restrict more cash at low oils prices? That to me does suggest a deal is on the way and I really hope it is and the new deal will hopefully take away the stigma of decoms and give us a true value rerate this time.
