Had VOD on my watch list for a while now. Bought my first batch @110, will continue to add if it drops further, however, I feel this is bottomed out.
I must admit, I was not expecting the price to rise in the way it has over the last month. I anticipated it would take a good 3/4 months to rise back to these levels.
Part of me can't help think that we must be a due a pullback at some point before the rise continues. What are other people's thoughts?
I'm a realist and averaging around 340p. I think 500p is about a fair price at the moment give or take 10/15p. Obviously we are closing in on that and there are lots of variables which could impact this SP. I have personally decided that I will cut my holdings by half when we hit 498p ish (if I find better value elsewhere) and hold the rest long term -hopefully if the company do things right that should reap much bigger rewards).
Some performance from HSBA over the last month or so!
Now where is my mate Porche...
I would love to hear @porches thoughts on the recent SP movement
My finger hovered over the sell button at 430p and then I asked myself the following: will I find a better, secure stock which pays as good dividends, with the prospect of considerable growth over the next few years? The answer was no. I have kept all my holdings. Of course this share comes with the (china) risk element attached, but that could also reap bigger rewards longer term. I am balls deep with about 60% of my investments in HSBA (excluding S&S ISA).
I can't lie, after where we were a month ago, I am half tempted to bank some. HSBA is my largest holding by a fair bit- but I still feel it is under valued. My only concern is a market correction from the US which will send the FTSE crashing down with it. Other opinions welcomed/appreciated?
359p to 423p in three weeks. Lots were preaching something this size can't move fast. I can see 450+ within the next few weeks.
We are positioned nicely now, particularly with the FTSE due it's Xmas bull run. We should tag along nicely and see 460+ before the year is out (imo dyor etc).
HSBC is in a much better position now than when the SP was 460p. It'll come good. Be nice to hear from Porsche today. He was convinced of 320p...
Anyone who ignored his advice and bought in at the lows would be sitting about 25% up..
It would be nice to break out over 400p over the coming days. Well done to those that bought in at 358ish, lovely returns already.
Shows how fast these can move up. From 358p to 382 in 4 trading days. LTH will be rewarded here. Huawei situation looking less troubling, just need this Evergrande situation sorted and then up up and away we go.
I'll be the first to admit that I didn't not see us reaching these prices again. I am confident long term, however a US correction could drop the hole FTSE100 down a fair bit. Hard to see when we were at 460p not long back, which was before positive results and the prospect of a much better Divi return going forwards. For me, I will hold, not check and hopefully be pleasantly surprised in 2022. GLA (other than Porsche, who I'm sure will be reappearing very shortly)..
Bloody Nora's. I bought in here at around 2.8 thinking I got a bargain and in the words of many on here "ready for lift off". Good job I wrote that money off after a few months. Pointless cashing in what's left now so I'll hope for a miracle between now and next checking in a few months.
A few weeks around the 405-415p mark before a breakout imo. Just hope the drop isn't too big on Friday and we hold 400p.
Hopefully break 405p today. Nearly 1% up without the blessing of the rest of the FTSE100 is a positive sign. Hopefully this is the start of a sentiment change and a bumpy but consistent ride up towards the 5's. GLA
Yes they're playing it conservative. But as you say, who would sell at this price. I see a steady increase to Q3 with a few bumps in the road. Given the improving economical outlook and reinstated Divi, this should be sat around 450p imo. Once the big investors return, the sentiment will change. I'm holding LT, but will offload for some profit WHEN we hit 500p, which I suspect it will within the next year.
I've topped up again (having said I was done). The positive results will filter through to the SP eventually. An absolute no brainer for me.
No doubt will end up in the red. I wouldn't worry. The positives are there in black and white. The SP will rebound in its own time. These seems to always happen on results day. Same with Lloyds last week. Starter the day 2% up and ended it nearly 2% down.
A great set of results. Onwards and upwards.
Wonder where @porsche is this morning?
