Don't get me wrong I ain't happy about it either, nor the buyback doing little more than using shareholder funds to pay for bonuses. I've just calculated my own version of reality about what the returns will be so not shocked at all by this. Try to filter out the overly positive poster estimations as not realistic. How the CEO is still in post amazes me.
More PPI is hardly shocking news and I suspect largely priced in. If the market thought the profit and eps figures being regularly banded about on here were accurate then the share price would currently be a lot higher, hence hoping majority priced in. Still likely to be a short term fall though, this is Lloyd's after all, bugger all price increase on good news and hammered on the slightest negative.
Well I think they won't be able to get away with not increasing it at all but suspect increase will be very small say 1.05 or 1.1. They need the funds for buyback to pay the bonuses and additional PPI provision.
The fact Lloyds is currently flat and other banks up does not give me much hope for good news on results day, though you never know for definite!
Optimistically I'm going for 64 to 65 with a bit of a dip before hand. Will we see a significant rise following results for once? Surely it has to happen at some point. That said I'm suspecting a hefty additional PPI provision....
Just got back in 200k pounds between 62.36 and 62.4. Big gamble as will need the money back out within a month so will have to take a loss if still negative by then! Still holding dabble pot in at 64.5... ooops! and long term holding. Will flog gamble pot if see a small profit
Looks like with current share price I'm not going be in a position to sell the dabble pot (64.5 purchase) for several weeks. Share price seems to have settled in a lower range for time being. If drops to low 62s or 61s might reuse my gamble pot, wary though as stretching myself financially to do it...
Looks like most of the banks took a signifant bashing today... For a change Lloyd's less than most. Question is will it continue tomorrow??? Worryingly I did purchase again today which would normally mean it plummets...
Invest4life, thanks for the feedback re. HL. All in my account now and ready to trade! Thus the price will shoot up tomorrow before I can get in :-) P.S. Don't remember having to do the transfer before.
Don't agree.... Share price would have been higher with increased total dividend return - share price is market and sentiment driven - buyback quite clearly counts for not a lot and the current share price is evidence of that.
You all just need to look out for me buying some, as the signal to get ready to buy in a few days time.... Might re-invest divvy tomorrow if still similar position (providing HL actually give me access to the divvy funds...)
