Anyone want to reconsider their thoughts on the magnificent Calamonte?

Probably something got out. I suspect weaker than expected Christmas/January trading and change in forward guidance.

This however may be a market overreaction, so may be worth the punt for an investor coming in at these levels, as the valuation does seem quite low

I remember certain individuals mocking me when this rose to mid 400s in December and I was saying it's temporary and it will melt back to the 300s... I was right (once again)

but TBF i didn't expect this to drop below 300s but ASOS never fails to disappoint!

Of course they know... this is the 'insider' reaction to a profit warning that's imminent

I'm already starting to hear the eternal bulls whining about 'market manipulation', blaming it on 'orange man', geopolitical uncertainty and generally anything other than the blatantly obvious that this is a dying business with a clueless CEO (yes I mean you Jamess, sj74, Hello24, KBYK, HappyInvestor, HelloKitty, west, CELTIC, therealogo, etc. etc. etc.)

I do feel that people have now moved from stages 1/2 (denial/anger) to stage 3 (bargaining) ... now begging to go back to the 300s which was once considered the bottom

For 2+ consecutive years I've been saying that this company is a dog with very clear argumentation and analysis. But happy to summarise for you again:

The brand is outdated and falling out of fashion, failed US expansion (which was key to future growth), intense competition from better managed companies (SHEIN), thinning margins and mounting debt. Revenue is going backwards in a company which used to be valued as a growth stock (!)

The recent re-fi at extortionate interest rates reveals a lot about the lack of confidence the lenders have in the company and the forced sale of top-shop at a heavy discount (only a couple of years after buying) shows just how dire the cash situation is

Furthermore, if you look at the numbers closely, you will realise that this company is breakeven at best (once you take into account CAPEX and interest).. so basically the equity value is almost non-existent (and that's exactly the reason the share price is on a downward trend for so many years). For avoidance of doubt, it's a breakeven company IF the turnaround works (let's not forget that currently it's loss making)

Administration / dilution over the next 18 months is a real risk and should be taken into account when calculating risk/return.

And people you need to accept that any prospect of a buyout won't be at a premium. Nobody is paying a heavy premium for this, it's a struggling company for Christ sake!

Jamess… pls stop playing the expert. You got it wrong every step of the way, for years now. You have not clue what ur talking about. And not just on this one, so pls just give it a rest (same goes for many others on here, you know who you are!)
