It's actually good news. Although as usual being over-hyped insanely. We've known for a long time Factom were working on this sort of thing and that we'd start to see things like this.

Which is why this morning I said Factom is one of the best bets for generating some value here eventually.

Be interesting to see if Snow (or anyone else) will give more detail on this deal in other channels.

Perhaps importantly it'll be interesting to know if there is money involved. Could be a freebie to use as proof of concept. Perhaps free for a period. Maybe there's an up-front fee. Maybe it's going to be simply be a tiny fee per transaction. Would be interesting to know how many transactions they envisage putting through it (in conjuction with whether Factom will earn per transaction). Etc.

The website is better and I still think Factom is one of the best bets for some value being generated here.

The valid point you make about the website is part of the same reason I'm sceptical on Yooya (website almost dead for a company supposedly going great guns if you believe the hype).

Regarding Aphria it wasn't in the July annual report which covered till end of March but they did mention it and they already had a value for it on the books not too much lower than what it sold for (difference of circa £1.6m).

Approximately two months later its NOMAD resigns and it's delisted from AIM. No real surprise eh.

So what happened when that RNS was released? It went up a ridiculous amount. I can't remember how much and it's too far back for me to check easily but I think it was something stupid like 150-300% up.
How much exactly doesn't matter. It's fair blatant though that something whiffy was going on (although very handy if you were silly enough to have been holding and a miracle gift to escape - if they would let you sell - which I doubt sadly).

There are potentially reasons for this and it MAY possibly turn out to be great......
However it's hard to be very confident on this and is most definitely in the "hope" category rather than anything more solid than that.

I'm very skeptical on Yooya and if it was some massive success I'd expect to see lots more employees, ways to engage with the company, and there's very little depth to it publicly.

You say it's big. I say there's virtually no real proof of this.

chilston - I think you take a lot of the hype at face value far too readily.

chilston - WE haven't factored in anything. I just corrected your initial post. You can try to assign values for everything else if you want to. They don't have all that Aphria cash anymore so adding that on is pointless. You'd have to value whatever remaining cash you think they have plus whatever you value each of the other investments at.

Cash from placing is less though. It's was £4m, minus loan repaid, so about £3.4m or less.
Sounds reasonable enough on LEAP (not going to quibble on that).
That would be £7.4m rather than £10m.
Depending on what you valued the rest at you could easily say it's overvalued or undervalued.

That's the worst thing about this share.
It's incredibly off-putting having a group of rampers that resort to abuse to anyone who interrupts their incessant over-promotion.
That's usually a hallmark of a share to avoid.....which is rather frustrating having taken a punt on it.

You misunderstand.
These potential clients take many years to potentially develop and no doubt the work to progress things with any of them or new ones is ongoing.
That's nothing to do with the crypto rout (not sure why you think it is - I never suggested it was).
What I said was crypto rout was relevant to another funding round - just like any business - the macro backdrop often affects how well it will go for them.

Factom's a lot more credible than a lot of the investments and we have a decent stake in it. It's however not an overnight thing going to big clients with a totally new tech project. They don't need to "sign up to the Factom protocol" though. The protocol and Factom Inc are separate. There's two things that are important, which are usage of the protocol by anyone, and usage of it by Factom Inc's own products. It's still probably one of the best bets to make us a good profit in the long term. I think it's simply suffered from the crypto rout and any further raising by them will have been delayed as result I'd bet.

A lot of the other investments we have small stakes or they're extremely speculative and hard to value. So I don't think the fall back is surprising when nothing particularly material has happened news wise (despite the spamming of often extremely tenuous links supposed to be the best thing ever every time).

It would be easy to make a case that this is overvalued just as it would be to say that it's undervalued since ultimately to say it's undervalued you have to make an assessment of likelihood/potential of each investment. That's not an easy thing to do for anyone no matter what they say (if they think it's easy then they're foolhardy).
