RE: Southampton Runway extension - an option for EasyJet?25 Sep 2023 07:49
Southend Airport (London Southend) as it's officially known has a similar problem to Southampton insofar as Easyjet operates from SEN but limited flights and routes before Covid Easyjet based 4 aircraft at the airport had had a very good choice of routes, together with Flybe and Ryanair (who operated some of the same routes as Easy) at the peak there were up to 32 departures and landings a day, along came Covid and every airline subsequently withdraw services with Easyjet being the only one to return with only 3-4 (seasonal routes) on various days of the week on some days no movements at all, a couple more routes have been announced for later this year and for 2024 but no aircraft will be based there, Southend Airport has a huge catchment area , own railway station being 45 minutes from London, I'm sure Easyjet would do very well if they increased destinations and frequency of flights and at the moment they would have sole use of passenger services.
