It's real eye opener, especially by Naples and Marco, as it's where the everglade water drains into the Gulf, so literally thousands of islands and myriad of river channels where any novice can rent and navigate a small craft without much mishap. $250 for half a day, can get you a pretty decent boat with all the gadgets. I only rent from Naples though as Macro isn't quite as a high end imo. I whack Gator Country FM on the radio, grab a barbie and some tinnies and find a nice quite sand bar to take in the views. Kids love it, but they still ask me to do the 3 to 4 hour drive to do the odd theme park though. One year we stayed at Key West for the first few days of the holiday and drove for about eight hours along the florida keys and then onto Cape Coral, stopping off at the odd beach along the way, one stunning drive imo.
