Hi Siko. - Just one query - Law 32 applies to all cases where a decision has not yet been made. - In Centamins case, or EMRA as it officially was, a decision had been made. - OK, it was suspended, but it wasn't cancelled. - That's what the appeal was about. - Getting the SAC to take another look. - So, on the face of it, because a decision had already been made, the way I've read Law 32, arguably, it doesn't apply to the SAC ruling against Sukari. - Any thoughts/comments?
Sorry to hear that Cowichan's contribution to this thread is coming to an end. - His contribution has been of a different order to the majority who post here. - A great forensic-ferret - a great conveyor of important news and detail that otherwise we would not have had access to. - He made Centamin management accountable in his expose of unpalatable facts. - They will be glad to learn of his departure. - For the rest of us, he will be a great loss.
If I'm calculating right, a 15% fall-off in production between Q3 and Q4 was a surprise, especially as forecast was weighted to H2 . - That was a bit of a shocker. - Again forecast for 23 weighted towards back-end of year. - I wondered what happened?
Initially negative. - Let's see what unfolds. - Quick skim read - 2022, on the face of it, cash-reserves have melted away, have had to borrow for the first time in yonks- Negative cash-flow for the year. Paying dividends out of borrowed money not a good look, so I suspect dividends will/may be seriously impacted due to this. -.Agree with Sotolo - Much depends on the gold-price going forward now.- Essential for good Q1 2023 results to steady the ship. Poor Q1 results and the snake will put in an appearance I feel.
Hi Tornado
Cowichan has raised an interesting question regarding gold-sales/forward contracts in order to secure new bank-funding.
If it turns out be true, given the current and expected market going forward, this could be unfortunate timing.
It's been very much a no-go area for quite a while within the industry and regarded very much as a last-resort strategy.
Personally I hope it turns out not to be the case.
Hi bobliz - Yes, what you say makes sense. - It'll be interesting to observe the 'theory' buy on rumour sell on news play out over the coming days. - With regards to Q4 news, so far as I'm aware, there is no news circulating, only hopes and opinions. - We'll see. :)
I'm wondering if the market has not yet comprehended the significance of Saturdays announcement. - It may at first appear that Centamin has set in train an appeal to the SAC which is being interpreted as a negative. - Just a thought.
The Saudi announcement and the review of Law 32, converging all at the same time like some well thought out strategy. - Coincidence or what? - Maybe. - Will it be a slam-dunk for Law 32? - Courtesy of Siko, we should soon know.
Agree Razor - It would be a great fillip going forward, especially if next week's results are a positive. - It's hard to imagine what the possible outcome on the SP would be in such circumstances. - However, remembering yesteryear, I'll put excitement onto the back-burner and wait'n'see.
Law 32 is not Centamin specific. - My understanding ; If it's passed, then it resolves the outstanding CC brought by ALF at stroke. - This CC casts a shadow over the legality of Sukari beyond 3km. - If it isn't passed, then the outstanding issues remain outstanding until the Administrative Court reconvenes and makes a final ruling.
Difficult to know after all this time what affect it will have on the SP if it is passed. - The market may well regard it as a non-issue. - It definitely had an affect at the time and for some time afterwards. - Not so sure now. - Something to look forward to one way or another. - Thanks Siko, good to hear from you. - Good luck.
