SOTB - ADUK has replied as to what I was suggesting. The reply was in fact tongue in cheek, given the flavourable replies to the suggestion that Choppers cannot be landed on a moving vessel! In fact I've been on a rig move (semi) on several occasions when Choppers have landed and why I suggested this could happen. Anyone REALLY interested on broadening there knowledge, CAP 437 would be a good point of reference.
Tutus/ADUK- Thanks. Should’ve said that no guarantee they’ll even use the choppers!
ADUK - As a retired DSV, you're clearly not thinking what YOU would do to save the company time and ultimately money and would sit well with the look ahead. I've taken the time to think this one out for you! Haha.
"Is Aberdeen the destination due to refuelling, or just a waypoint?"
Who knows? Suddenly the whole thing's become something of a mystery-story for the 'shipwatchers ' to keep up with, hasn't it?
As a Shipwatcher founder member, I have now turned to Paraffin Budgie watcher. As per VesselFinder, ETA Aberdeen 2100 30/12/18. You could probably add another 24 to Lancaster were it to go straight there therefore 2100 31/12/18. Thinking about time of year and heliport closures and no Choppers before 03/01/19. the following seems plausible and possibly necessary.
HUR has two Choppers booked for 31/12/18 one at 0800 and the next at 0900. This would give a maximum 38 changed/additional personnel. Despite the return trip being shown as 4 hours, which would be to WOS, should the AM be just off Aberdeen, the first Chopper could quite easily round trip in under one hour and AM be fully crewed up to carry out the necessary to hook up and certify and thus keep the clocking ticking along nicely without having to wait 3 days at Lancaster for these people to arrive (if not already onboard). All if, buts, and maybe's but it would make financial/logistical sense. Also gives an opportunity to work a supply vessel in calm waters from 2100 30/12 to 0800 31/12 and avoid the need to round trip a supply vessel. (Had I remembered Supply Vessel name, could checked her itinerary)
On the other hand, they may just keep trucking along and slow down for Choppers to land. Wait and see, probably just wasted my time concocting this idea and your time reading it!
Matman - Our paths have crossed. Don't have any contact details. Never know, we may bump into each other again at heliport, assuming you haven't retired thanks to HUR!
ADUK - No plot. Just two guys keeping an ear out for the next opportunity to make a few quid courtesy of the Offshore grapevine and Aberdeen Taxi Drivers/Landlords!
Ah Matman, wondered when you would make an appearance. Thought the same when I read about Spark Exploration on here and will keep eye/ear out for any Offshore news. Potentially another HUR? Time will tell and await any IPO. Assume you've significantly turned your investment around and are in the black or top sliced at least when SP was high. Could say a bit more but anonymity is where I/we should stay.
I think the theorists need to go offshore and see what the weather can really be like and how it impacts on operations whilst on station, never mind trying to move a rig/FPSO or whatever in weather, it simply wouldn't happen. The weather Offshore over the last week has been way out of limits for hook up both in terms of wind speed and sea state so why therefore even move it from the sheltered waters of a shipyard and risk any damage.
Oh and as an add on, Hurricane Chopper scheduled at Bristows for 28/12/18 at 08:00 but that doesn't mean it will be on station by then nor does it mean it will be used. However you may want keep an eye of it and turn up for 7:00am check in and put your concerns to RT. ??
SIPPN00B - You mention ROG (Rotterdam Offshore Group) but net suggests Damien Verolme (formerly Keppel Verolme. Oh the memories) as berth in their yard. Did you get ROG from the horses mouth? If yes, our Air Intelligence Squadron may be able to narrow down their co-ordinates for cameras.
Try again. If this doesn't work the info is out there.

Hecate - Even better.

Hecate - keep your eye on arrivals. Details berth.

Vessel making excellent time and assuming works previously detailed (plate and flare boom) are the only works to be undertaken then should see AM depart Rotterdam end of month. A word of caution though, weather. It was muted 2m swell for hook up. You need to appreciate that is nothing in December. Could get lucky with weather window and go straight there and hook up. In a way attaching the bouy is in a sense like running a BOP with not to dissimilar weather needed, though l don't assume standby cover would be needed for the bouy, but I may be wrong.
I think we need to go back to Dec 16/Jan 17 when time was lost waiting for a BOP to be run which ultimately cost money and lost valuable test time if I recall correctly. Key here for everyone is to be patient, even more so at this crucial stage. HUR won't rush this, ok they may lose production time but in the grand scheme that's a small price to pay. They will plan and assess for a successful hook up at the first attempt, no question. They are way ahead of published schedule and hook up will take as long as it takes as long as it doesn't in away compromise the AM and those aboard her.
By the way 14/01/19 for FOIL!
JK - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T2kVafxxjDY&list=PL4504A6E3581E6345&index=1 Try this for a taster. They gave the car away as a prize.
BZ - Your looking at the Xmas Trees. Google FMC Subsea Trees. Sure you’ll find all you need to know.
JK - If not already seen, you need to watch an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they worked on a BRG XK8 with wood. That will give you wood! MercMan though!
My mother calls them Olympic cars due to the joined circles despite badge having 4 rather than 5 joined circles. Certainly not a BMW. Auto Union.
JK - I like to talk about cars in moderation, as working offshore you hear guys "I'm buying this and this and that and so on which rarely happens. When you mentioned Jaguar, I remembered a message I sent to one of my mates after he just bought a nearly new car. This is verbatim.
15/11/15 - "Have you sold your house to a pensioner? Just that I saw an old man's car in your drive the last day."
Reply - "F*** all old manny car about it. Am realising my age unlike some lol."
You guessed, he bought a Jaguar XF. He was 44 at the time!
Sorry JK, Jaguar not for me. Will stick with my "Olympic" cars, as my 80 year old mother calls them.
As for fuel prices, £1.31.9 for unleaded £136.9 for diesel. Happily pay £1.40. High oil/fuel prices mean I'm still in a job!
ADUK - Is it the FPSO or the Buoy which is anchored to the moon or is she fully DP with no anchors like Transocean Spitsbergen? Ha ha!
Thank god that’s out 😉.
Started this thread on Tuesday at 21:23 with one liner and article from P&J and its still going! Is this a record? 😂
That's a statement investors should digest.
