Historically interest rates are still low at the moment.

It's just they were ridiculously low, so inflation was baked in. But didn't happen for years.

By the way, raising interest rates to control inflation is a blunt instrument.

As inflation has a direct link with money supply.

The reason inflation happens is when people have more money, they spend more and prices rise

In the past rising interest rates means people with debt don't have so much money and so price's cannot rise.

So when base rates were a quarter of one percent, inflation should have been running away but it wasn't because money supply was constrained by individual debt.

So raising interest rates at the moment has had little effect, as the problem is that certain sections of society have money but the masses don't.

The answer this time to control inflation is to tax the section of society that has the spending power to constrain their spending and give a tax cut to those that are struggling, hence rebalancing an out of balance economy.

Of course if this kick starts the economy and we are able to reduce the deficit then that's even better, but that's another story.

Because we need to reduce the deficit in order for debt to fall as a ratio to GDP which is where I started.

I consider this a good fiscal rule, so that although debt rise's, it falls as a percentage of GDP.

Apart from Quantative easing, money is printed by the Basel three accord and is calculated mainly by using capital tier ratio one.

Hence this feeds into currency fluctuations, and is self balancing.

Hence why fiat currencies are resilient.

The ones linked to the Basel accord anyway.

If you look at borrowing, which is what capital tier ratio one is used for, then you understand how money is created and destroyed and how economy's are measured against each other.

Inflation is required in short measure in order for government to increase borrowing as a percentage of GDP.

Hence why things are not as bad as people think.

What I believe will happen is Fiat currencies will undergo a balancing as government debt will change exchange rates when to much debt is ascribed.

So some currencies will fair better than others.

I believe this is also part of the inflation equation that is currently happening in the Western world.

As this ultimately devalves the currency.

At some point government borrowing is going to be constrained and inflation will only then start to erode the debt piles of nations.

Let's put electric cars to bed once and for all. 3 indisputable facts which should turn every greenie away from electric and back to ICE.

1. Electric cars run on fossil fuels, just like ICE. The filthy stuff is just burnt out of sight ( and out of mind ), not by the car.

Not true as the environmental cost of building the car is less than an ICE vehicle, and the environmental cost of electricity generated is becoming greener every month.

2. An engine which burns the fuel and transmits the power directly to the wheels is more efficient than transmitting the electricity from a remote site, as up to 20% of the power is lost during transmission. More waste.

This is total rubbish, power loss during transmission is no more than 2% and often it's half that.

A petrol car ( the best ones ) lose 60% and are only 40% efficient.

I know as I am a qualified electrical and electronics engineer HNC.

3. Half of the fossil fuel energy that is used during the life of the vehicle is during manufacture, so scrapping perfectly serviceable ICE vehicles and replacing them with EVs is just another massive waste of precious FF resources.

We should be repairing and reusing the existing vehicle fleet, but that doesn't fit the narrative for the virtue-signalling classes and their overlords, who must have graph moving upwards to the right in order to preserve the status quo and their accompanying privilege.

Cars are always being repaired, but apart from people who keep cars no matter what the cost, they eventually become uneconomical to repair.

Mind you I would expect this type of rubbish from a Putin apologist.

A friend of mine is having a heat pump from octopus energy after the government increased the subsidy from 5,000 to 7,500 pounds.

So he gets a new heat pump. An intelligent hot water tank

Also all his radiators changed for new ones and the deinstallation of his hot water boiler, he is also having his gas capped, so his house will be totally electric.

Total cost 3,600 pounds.

I feel currently this is the best deal on the market.
