He could have paid a reduced divi, nothing but gesture signaling just like his idiotic ramblings about global warming and being carbon neutral. We need a cold hard business man to take over and run this company instead of a wishy washy globalist to worried about public opinion.
And today as Doris is launching the climate change conference Mr Gove announces bringing forward banning all fossil cars to 2035 Thats 15 years when questioned how it was going to get funded he said market forces. In other words he doesn’t know he doesn’t care he just wants to sound good for Doris’s announcement. Meanwhile Greta is up for a Nobel ??? .......a big investor once said never make a financial decision on a Government announcement
From where I’m sitting oil and gas are going to be here for a long time. We do not have the capacity to produce enough electricity for the change. Google Hinkley point that was given permission in 2012 to build a nuclear reactor the third on that site. Over £20b and climbing, delay upon delay now 2025 at the earliest. The highest “strike rate” ever produced to pay for it . Another one planned for Sizewell in Suffolk. It takes years to get permission to build one so as it stands we could be looking at 25years per station from idea to completion. Charging points ? I live in a flat I don’t even have a parking space let alone a charging point. Even with the investment we simply don’t have the space. Tax...if EV is the future the Government will not be able to do without the duty on fossil so will be forced to tax EV through electric tax and tolls so one of the big attractions to have an EV was the cost to run think again. In the Faily Mail they had an article about ripping every gas boiler out of ever house and replacing with electric I really do wonder who is driving this climate propaganda because it gets more ridiculous every day. So as a source of reliable energy oil and gas are here to stay. I think a lot of small producers will fall by the wayside and there will be a lot of consolidation but until we get to a place where putting the kettle on in the ad break of Eastenders puts the grid under strain BP and Shell are here to stay
