Let me throw a few stats at you (my job is directly in this field).. do you know what the average life expectancy was from 1600-1900? 42 yoa in 1850, for one. Do you know how much of the European population were killed as a result of previous pandemics such as the black death, the Spanish flu, the Justininan plague, smallpox, particularly in Latin America? Over a quarter of the popul6for all of them. Huge death tolls, while recent pandemics such as the Asian flu, Hong Kong Flu, the Russian flu of 1977, MERS, SARS, all have much lower death tolls. Take a guess as to why the death tolls fell exponentially for these later pandemics. I'll give you a clue..starts with V.

Also, the death rate from this one may be 0.2%, for the overall population, it's well, well, well above that stat for the over 70s. Are you saying you would accept a 10% death rate for this age group? If you say no then you've contradicted your own post.

I wont be taking the vaccine either. With a death rate of around 2% of those infected and 0.2% of the population (most of whom are over 70 and already at risk of any viral infection) I'm afraid this has been massively over played. I'm sorry for those who died, but while daily covid obituaries are read out on news channels daily, thousands of others are dying of other causes without a word about it. And Doc "you'd have never been born without the last 100 years of vaccination programmes." What utter nonsense. How exactly do you think the world population grew to where it was up to 100 years ago? No vaccination has ever been forced upon anyone because personal health decisions are just that, personal and to suggest travel and work should be restricted to only those vaccinated is a very scary prospect and a slippery slope. It's like saying why not let the government put a GPS tracker on everyone. If you are doing nothing wrong what's the problem, a bit intrusive though isn't it? This will end up in the courts for years. Can you imagine the economic effect of say an extra 10 million people out of work and who will never work again? Madness to even suggest it. Once the vulnerable and elderly are vaccinated, ie the most at risk of serious Illness and death, the infection rates will fall dramatically. Vaccine effect on transmission has yet to be confirmed. If it turns out it doesn't stop transmission, then what's the point in me getting vaccinated against an illness that poses minimal risk to me and doesn't stop me getting it and passing it on?

I have keys and alarm systems to a few of my jobs when deployed to carry out work in selected zones, it doesn’t give me right or reason to intrude elsewhere.

If you start testing on the doorstep, how sterile do you think the test will be, how accurate do you think the results will be?

Tell me how the ‘PCR’ is able to isolate covid?

Once you have answered the above, tell me why, influenza and other respiratory diseases have almost dropped of the planet?

PCR test, does it test for COVID, no it doesn’t, it picks up all traces as you should well know, even a high court judge kicked out a case in Portugal as it was in reliable!

The swabbing is a very delicate procedure and should only be delivered by supervision of an E,N & T specialist.

Now take the points I’ve made, seriously do you think a knock at the door is required, this is the future stance for invasive behaviour imo!

ProfSD, I think you need to man up. Mandatory testing in a small cluster of people is a public health imperative in the crisis we find ourselves in, hardly 'facism' by any stretch of the imagination. I know not of many cases where people have suffered serious injury from having a swab up their nose by a medically trained professional, do you? Yes it may smart, it may bring water to the eyes, it may leave one with a recoiling sence of 'yuck'....but according to all available data it doesn't cause fatality. Unlike too much cocaine shoved up your nose. Or droplets of Covid-19 infecting your airways. A small price to pay for the convenience of halting a deadly pathogen I would argue.

Careful what you wish for, this is the tip toe steps to fascism. As for the ‘PCR’ test which as most people know by now is not w diagnostics test, what damage is being done by sticking a swab up your nose.

Doc, they're not even making it mandatory to be tested with this door to door mularkey, from what i've read on the Surrey gov forum it's a polite request more than anything. The mind boggles. They've also given Egham residents a week's notice before they are approached door to door. Like anyone is going to stay put knowing the officials are going be coming around with swabs to stick up noses. .. Incompetence and blithering come to mind..... Surely it should be mandatory?
