I appreciate that nobody likes any fair opinions on cineworld and that people to only look at cineworld in a positive light. It is a fact that cineworld burns more cash when open, but they also make more cash too.
The last time cineworld reopened, the attendences were not as high as they needed, causing a drop in SP. That is also a fact.
There is no need to just "lol" at any info that isn't rosey.
As I said, with vaccines in play this time will be different. Mooky has said that they don't expect 2019 admission levels until 2023. If this comes to fruition then we may see £1.50 - £2.50 by then. Reopening alone will not shoot this share to the sky as most people seem to think.
When cineworld is open they bleed more cash than when closed. The news we want is that they can open to at least 50% capacity across the board. Also investors are still unsure whether or not people will return to cinemas in big numbers. I believe that they will, especially with what the chinese box office saw and the fact that going abroad seems out of the question for most at the moment.
Basically the news of reopening on its own is bad news. The news of cinema attendences shooting up is what we are waiting for.
When cineworld last opened, low attendance saw the SP take a hit. This time vaccines are in play, plus there are many great movies backlogged. The only movie of note released last time was tenet, and it didn't do badly at all!
I know. I kick myself about that all the time. Thankfully my amazon shares are still keeping me sane.
I'm not dissing the share by the way. I still hold about 2k shares at 62p average, and I won't sell them.
I just wanted to post some advice to those who have got in above £1.10 and are now averaging down.
I averaged down when the prices of cineworld were at 25% their precovid values. At the moment we are sitting around over half of precovid values. With the added dilution and added debt, precovid levels may not return for a good 5-10 years.
The advice is literally for those who don't want to be LTH's.
All LTH's will probably see 2-3x their current investment.
Hi,
It's been a long time since I posted on here. I Sold out 90% of my holding for around 62p. Massive mistake. I was one of the people who got in at 80p+ the last surge. It then went down to 17p for a brief period of time before finally reaching my break-even point. I had suffered for almost a year and basically had had enough of the stock. I would have made an extra £15,000 if I had held just 6 more weeks.
That been said, the last time cineworld reopened, they dropped from 88p to 50p over a period of a month or so. They then released some bad results and went down to 17p. They stayed around 30p for a long time before going up to where they are now.
My point is that reopening isn't always good news, especially for cineworld. They now have over 8bl worth of debt and have requested to remove borrowing limits so one would assume that they are planning on raising more cash.
All I came to say is be careful. Only put in what you can afford to be without for a long period of time. This will eventually come good but the waters are truly rough at this point in time. Personally I would not buy any shares for over 80p. If it goes to those levels again then perhaps it's time to buy more. I made the mistake of averaging down the last time. Then I kept on having to average down until I ended up having to sell other shares to keep this share afloat.
All I'm saying is be careful. Good luck.
I think the issue here is the argument between the UK and the EU over vaccines. The EU have a way of getting what they want, which in this case, is the UKs supply of vaccines.
Any delay to our vaccine programme could be crippling to business's that are needing to reopen, quickly.
Cineworld need to be reopen by May. To me that is not looking likely (in the UK anyway). However, depending on the report you read, cineworld also said that they have enough cash to last them until Dec 2021.
The rise was to do with the cineworld bonus. People have seen 1.90 and even 3.80 as a target, which is doable, as long as they reopen as soon as possible.
The reason I sold, is because I have no faith in our government, and the USA vaccine rollout was diabolical. I just cannot see things returning to some sort of normality until 2022. That being said, I sold out at 63p and lost out on a tonne of profit already. I wish I had held more than what I have done.
The gameshop / amc crew have crashed it
Just wanted to bob on and say congrats to you all!!!!!
I bottled it and sold 20k shares for about 13k (ouch). Held through all the lows and sold 3 weeks ago.
Kudos to all LTH's!
I've sold the majority of my holding. Sold at 66p, happy with that for now. Kept a more modest amount, an amount that I can happily forget about and won't lose sleep over if it does all disapear. Have to admit that with the massive amounts of negative news regarding covid, I had my doubts on cineworld opening by May. Looking at cinema attendences in China, I do believe once we open and are allowed 100% capacity we will see record breaking figures for cinema attendences.
I'm so happy for all the people who have held strong and I pray that this share rockets up to atleast 1.10 before opening day.
Just hold. It may drop tomorrow, for basically nothing that's relevant, but this will come good in the end.
Covid cannot disrupt our economy for longer than a year surely. If it does, its end game for cash anyway.
12 weeks? No chance.
Maybe 2 weeks.
If its 12 weeks cine is in trouble.
Its gonna be 2 weeks. Cine is already shut so will be fine.
P.s happy new year everyone.
Merry Christmas everybody. Boris did it! Pulled that out of the bag! What a deal.
Not posted for a while, due to repetiveness (the damn streaming argument got me boiled after the 500th discussion).
Still holding 20k shares at 64p average! I'm just in the green but I'm sure it will keep going up from now.
Hope you have a good one NOFEAR, Sammy, M00la, Steve and the rest! Peace and take care, I Pray For a safe 2021 to you all :).
Well tbfh funinvest, it calculated it as between 17th and 20th of December, but I havnt heard anything so I think that view was optimistic.
I am currently doing my job from home so there is no rush for me, altho the tenants do miss me haha.
I'm still in two minds to take it tbh. I'll probably take it and my Mrs, who doesn't has asthma will not , just incase there are some nasty side effects. At least one of us will survive to look after the little one.
Morbid.
I know what you mean about it seeming real.
I messed about online with a calculator that tells you when you should expect your jab.
I'm 32 with asthma and I'm a warden so work closely with the elderly.
It came back as only 500,000th, and I should expect my jab before the end of December apparently. I'm not even vulnerable. Eye opener as to how quick they are doing this swizzle.
Haha abrook.
His monitor is 30inch tho, get it right, perfect for two!
My bad, been working and it just flashed up on my phone.
Nothing to worry about then!
News just released that a new variant of covid has been found, not good.
Indep, you could make your account seem more legit by actually posting on other BB's too. Simple tactic, but effective!
Just put my outside lights up and feeling Christmassy. Just wanna say merry Christmas to you all. I honestly hope we all make good money here. Disney news release is nothing but positive in my eyes. Come this time next year cineworld will be at 1.50+.
Peace out x
Of course! Disney are going to have their cake and eat it too. They can release £1bl+ movies to the big screen and rake it in with their on demand service too. Over 86m subscribers already, another 100m and they will be competing with netflix, haha.
I still think that buying a cinema chain would be amazing business from their side. 1 free cinema ticket per month included with your disney+ subscription, yes please!
Also, i know it won't go down well, but if disney do decide to release movies on stream and in theaters at the same time, we will likely see 40p again.
The only difference with disney compared to WB is that they already have figures for Mulan, which will massively sway their decision one way or another. They also have millions more subscribers than HBO max, so they may not feel the need to release big movies straight to disney+
