RE: JHI´s funding for Canje drilling programme8 Sep 2021 23:31
Exploration companies don't fund 12 wells in one go. The approach would be to have funds for some of them and raise for more wells as and when it makes sense. I'm not qualified to answer specifics on JHI, but I think they had carry for several wells (maybe 4) and cash for a few more (2 or 3 say).
If JHI stikes oil then their shares will increase signficantly in price as will ECO's and rasing funds for more Canje drilling will be easy for both companies. Conversely, if JHI has a duster their shares should underperform ECO as we have Orinduik, so ECO should be able cannibalize a greater chunk of Canje at a better price in a subsequent JHI funding.
Increase Canje stake if there is a duster? While that might seem an illogical move, the huge number of wells planned on Canje makes for an incredibly compelling risk-reward proposition. To have so many company making opportunities in such a compressed time frame really is unprecedented in my experience. Just wait for Orinduik to add to the mix.
