The Secretary of State for Energy Ed Milliband a Yorkshire MP is dead against any further developments of Fossil fuels and is committed to Net Zero. With this in mind there is no way that a development on his own doorstep will be allowed.

He has in his capacity as Secretary of State for Energy to carry through whatever he deems fit, and can over ride any public deliberations. End of Story.

That is a major reason why no company (take note Simon64) became involved with a joint partnership in Rathlin following almost 2 years of searching. The truth is West Newton has no future. The only ones advocating otherwise are those in far too deep for their own good. Hence the strong buy box ticked. Laughable really, but in another way very sad that they had to lose face and self respect by doing so.

Even if all goes well next year with public discussions and planning etc etc there appears to be severe headwinds regarding very long lead times due to lack of drilling equipment's and personnel. So 2026 most likely the year for any REAL advancement...... below an extract from a leading company in the field and its observation this year 2024...............

It will disappear fro RBD's RNS's like the other previous 'assets' in California and Romania to name just a couple. If you like throwing money away into a 'lifestyle' company then invest here, but don't say later you were not warned.

Just listened to Ed Miliband on Radio 4 discussing the 2030 target for net zero on carbon emissions. It was obvious that within the next 6 years (the time that it would take for West Newton to be developed) that the end of fossil fuels in the UK would be accomplished. No other company would touch any project now to do with drilling for oil/gas in the UK. Rather ironic that only yesterday the two fools who run RBD bought a further major stake in Rathlin. Their total incompetence is difficult to comprehend. Perhaps they had a nod what was coming and gave Rathlin's directors a kind of 'golden handshake' by allowed them to feed at the trough for a few more years. R.I.P also to poor old Simon64's major investment in Reabold and for his undying trust in the two joint CEO's.
