FinnCap initiated coverage of ASOS (ASC) with a sell stance, putting it in a separate camp to the other 14 brokers that either rate the stock as a buy (9) or hold (5). The broker argued that its peers are keen on the stock as it is "one of the relatively few pure-play online retail investments", since online is where the main growth opportunities for retail firms are now located. However, it said that the shares are now over-valued, since "the upgrades that used to regularly accompany updates have become less frequent". Unless growth accelerates, FinnCap believes it will be difficult to argue for further re-ratings. Moreover, it also believes that the current rating "does not allow for execution risk or increasing competition". FinnCap has a 550p target for the shares, which slipped 7p to 610p.

We’ve never really been out of a recession – it is a façade due to the “money-pumping” operation, and that is, mainly true, globally. Re: Au It is not simply “gold and hold” there may be some bad dips as companies/countries sell to try to maintain liquidity. So one has to be nimble, and I constantly trade a basket of gold shares, gold, and silver [but I do have a large investment – which I just leave, alone]. However I hope China/India etc buying will stabilise the price, and longer term I have no worries. ATB

I don’t use charts. I try to take in the bigger picture, the various sectors, how they will react etc… and wait, as necessary, to invest in the direction that I think things will go. Anyway, ATB Catch you later, into the last hour of the FTSE

There are an awful lot of PIs in the Markets, because of low interests at present. Not putting too fine a point on, many really don’t understand the bigger picture. In fact most of the so-called experts, don’t, or don’t want too. There is a big correction coming - whether it will be slow or fast, I don't know. ATB

Agreed, but we are moving into a very different phase, that was in the past, the time of easy money, and slack policy is ending fast – we have never been more indebted. ATB Re: Buffet - trouble is that operated in a very different economic climate, he also had a lot of friends “in the know” ;):

I came in a bit early with a short, but staged up to 633p & 644p –so doing not so bad, now. I just cannot understand the reason that this one is flying so much. I know it is the bottom end of the market but their profit margins must be being squeezed, certainly with the weakness of sterling, and more so if it weakens further. ATB

I can’t remember, exactly, but I was reading somewhere, that this guy thought that zinc was undervalued, and of course, they have exposure to other metals.
