HITS: the Board members will have told the Chairman that their individual circumstances preclude their buying shares, until they’ve had a nice salary rise to allow them to do so. I dare say the Chairman will be persuaded by their arguments. I should think he may have presented a similar one himself. Why are people so worked up about it? They told shareholders the commitment to buying shares was subject to each Director’s personal circumstances, innit?

Wizard125: it’s no one’s business whether another poster owns shares in the company or if so, how many. The question is sometimes asked because the questioner thinks a negative answer justifies his running off to site admin demanding a ban. A nasty, deplorable tactic. I’m not saying that this is the case in this instance but if it’s not, it’s just nosey-parkerism.

I’m not interested in whether anyone posting here hold the shares or not. Why would you be?

Then why question the motivation of the poster? Particularly when you’re a pretty active poster yourself.

These boards are for the exchange of information on, and views of, the companies. They’re not for the sole use of optimists, otherwise potential investors new to the company will see just one side of the argument. And it would be silly in most circumstances to be pessimistic about a company while holding shares in it. This seems self-evident to me. I’m sure it is to most people. So these nosey-parker questions must have some other motive, mustn't they?

wizard: happily, this is not a prospect they’re likely to have to face, what? If such a thing did happen, it would hardly help their respective positions with regard to private health provision, car loans, school fees etc to have wasted vital resources buying shares in this crock, would it? Be reasonable.

While I’m not a supporter of the management here, I think you're being a bit unfair about their commitment to buy shares in the company. They did say (didn’t they?) that such purchases would be subject to the specific circumstances of individual directors. Mortgage payments, car loans, school fees - it all mounts up and 5-10% per month invested in this dud won’t butter any parsnips, will it?

HITS: yes, agreed. We’ve been saying the same thing for quite a few weeks. I think Angus will be given less leeway on meeting the 12mm+1Poundland schedule - people have got accustomed to their prevarication and are less likely to believe it in future (surely?). Still, it’s AIM, investors here are reluctant to let go and accept a loss. So both companies may get more placings away. As you know, I think Anguish may fall into its lenders’ hands next year. The more money they can squeeze out of placees/shareholders in the interim, the cheaper the acquisition will be. Who knows how much longer investors will be willing to shovel money into UKOG’s sinkholes?

The FCA should require AIM to keep records along the lines of the records the cfd brokers are required to keep, of the % of investors who lose money investing in them.

HITS: you are incontrovertibly correct, on both sites. There’s another of these imbeciles elsewhere who’s questioning the motivation of anyone comparing UKOG and Anguish? They’re extremely similar in a number of important respects, that’s why. I’ve still got UKOG in the lead by a short head in their race to the bottom. I think it’s more likely, however, that they’ll find oil in commercial quantities in Turkey than that Anguish will bring £12mm+1Poundland profitably into production.

Stockraiser: so are you suggesting, as you seem to, that mug punters who object to losing a huge part of their investment to unscrupulous business practices are reprehensible/fair game and deserve your contempt?

I should have thought that shareholders would put off buying more of these until they know how many they’ll be offered at 0.18p. And there will be some overhang from the placing. So much more than 0.18 seems unlikely for now, surely?

Still, who knows? this is UKOG. And AIM. And Turkey. They should change the name to Three Turkeys Oil&Gas.

The ramping crew, their work here finished for a month or two, have moved over to Anguish, where they’re redoubling their efforts. This can only mean one thing for shareholders there - though there is a little contagion in the share price there from this placing.

It’s ludicrously transparent. I’m not a short term trader but I think I could make some money from it. To do so is tantamount to supporting corrupt practices though, isn’t it? Its scandalous that the AIM and the FCA sit on their hands doing nothing about it.

cwebb07: yes, correct. Though as his supporters on here, and those at one to two similar companies that have been referenced on here before, are fond of saying “you haven’t lost money until you sell them”. They’ll be recommending “average down” soon. Both equally ridiculous advice.

I should think that shares equivalent to half the shares issued were pushed out by placees last week. It’s only fair, after all. UKOG will need their support again before you know it. This was a perfectly classic pimp and dump, expertly executed. Funny, really, if you weren't sucked in.

Caddy1: I sympathise with you on your losses and frustration with this company and with these bulletin boards. However, there has been a number of well researched posts by clearly intelligent people warning of UKOG’s pressing need for more money and predicting a placing. They identified the pump and dump in pretty clear terms as well. All you’ve seen from the ramping brigade has been hot air and hyperbole, they couldn’t answer a single one of the sceptics’ questions. It seems to me that people who refused to exercise rational judgment and suspended disbelief in holding onto their shares should learn from this latest bitter experience. UKOG will likely need more money later this year.
