I’m happy to wait and see how this develops.
Before the auction, BSF stated that the Amsterdam unveiling and publicity had generated inbound interest from global Tier-1 brands in luxury, sportswear and automotive sectors, and that discussions were focused on bespoke collaborations and long-term material development partnerships.
If that statement is accurate (and there’s no reason to say it isn’t), then:
• The handbag not selling does not automatically affect those discussions.
• Luxury brands are interested in the material technology, scalability, exclusivity and brand story.
• A collector refusing to pay €500k for a one-off handbag is different from a luxury brand evaluating a future commercial partnership.
• The bag still achieved international press coverage.
• The key asset is the T-Rex leather IP and ATEP platform.
• The real catalyst is whether BSF announces:
• a Tier-1 collaboration,
• a development agreement,
• a licensing deal,
• or a Lab-Grown Leather spin-out/funding round.
I’ll put these away for a few more weeks to see how things unfold. GLA
