Yes it's forced institutional selling. I think they will be dispassionate about it, it's just a matter of company policy dictated by their risk and compliance departments.

It's a deletion from the indices rather than a delisting, but it's expected to trigger significant outflows of cash - $90M - presumably automated institutional sells.

I'm guessing the sells will be from institutions whose policies dictate that companies must be index listed... or something like that?

March 14th. FINMARKET.RU - Index provider FTSE has announced the exclusion of Evraz, Polymetal and Petropavlovsk from its indices, according to a review by VTB Capital strategists Daria Batyshkina and Andrey Kuznetsov.
The change will take effect on March 18 after the close of trading.
According to experts, the passive outflow of capital from the shares of Polymetal and Petropavlovsk will be about $90 million and $9 million, respectively. Passive outflow of money from Evraz securities during the resumption of trading on the LSE may reach about $70 million.

It's reported there will be an expected passive capital outflow of $90M from polymetal as a result of deletion from indices. Any ideas what that will do to the share price?

The accusation is that this company has been controlled by RA to support the russian regime and undermine ukrainian independence. Relisting the company would signal that the FCA do not believe those accusations and do not support the UK government sanctioning of RA. It seems unlikely that the FCA would choose that route at this time or any time soon.

It's a good question, I don't know whether the none russian elements have some dependency on the russian side of the business or whether the none russian parts are completely stand alone, independent entities.
