To date, YA have converted in chunks of £250k and £500k. If volume is good, there's nothing to stop them from raising that to, say, £750k.

thought I read somewhere that the shorters were buying back or had already bought back: there seems to be no more consensus amongst them than amongst our politicians.

A lot of the new issue was flipped yesterday, hence the volume in excess of 800m shares. Those who held, and those who bought in or reinforced, are looking for longer-term gains. The renewal of the shareholder base is encouraging for the future.

Assuming there is a when-issued market in the stock, which certainly seems to be the case with UKOG, you can sell them in when-issued form, ie. they will only be settled when admitted.

When issued: The term is short for "when, as and if issued." Securities trade on a when-issued basis when they have been announced but not yet issued. The transaction is settled only after the security has been issued. A when-issued market exists where when-issued instruments are traded.
