The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Can you share the link to this article please Halfshell? I've read conflicting perspectives on if/how the US and UK grids can cope with the increasing demand from EV adoption, so interested to read this....
Another interesting share, thanks Halfshell, you've been busy!
You can see the full roadmap which was released last month here: https://www.constructionleadershipcouncil.co.uk/news/diesel-to-disappear-from-most-construction-sites-by-2035-under-new-plan/
Thanks for sharing this Halfshell, yes interesting that they are now able to test up to 200kW. I wonder if/how Kolibrik might be involved in testing the 200kW ABB unit when it's delivered in the coming months?
Good to see Keltbray mentioning AFC in their Carbon Reduction Plan, and also identifying how hydrogen generators will play a key part in decarbonising off-grid sites.
Their long term goal is to meet reach net zero by 2040, but they mention the use of hydrogen and solar power from now to deal with all small power demands onsite, and hydrogen generators and also ammonia as a fuel from 2025.
And recent comments directly from VINCI...
"We are pleased to be working with AFC Energy to use hydrogen fuel cells to replace diesel generation onsite. It is part of our commitment to supporting VINCI's sustainability targets. "
Andrew Thomsett, Plant & Fleet Director VINCI Construction
AFC Energy we're invited to present to leaders from across VINCI's business recently. This follows the lease agreement signed with Taylor Woodrow (civil engineering division of global contractor Vinci Construction UK) for H-Power Tower deployment in Bedfordshire alongside a National Grid site.
AFC Energy stated "We were pleased to be invited to the recent VINCI Construction UK Leaders Forum 2023 event at Silverstone. It was great to showcase our hydrogen power generator solutions and discuss how we can support one of the largest global construction firms in delivering its plans to reduce direct emissions by 40% by 2030. Thank you VINCI Construction UK for having us, and we look forward to further developing this important zero-emission collaboration."

Watch this video to see how ACCIONA value AFC Energy as a "key technological partner that will help us to adopt and implement the use of hydrogen gensets as an essential tool for decarbonisation".
About ACCIONA: our goal is to lead the transition towards a low-carbon economy, bringing technical excellence and innovation to all of its projects to design a better planet. With a presence in more than 40 countries and sales of €11,195 billion in 2022, the company is committed to contributing to the economic and social development of the communities in which it operates.
Fantastic to see Sunbelt Rentals working alongside AFC at the Colas Rail Power Tower deployment. We know from the AGM that rental companies are engaging AFC about buying systems to rent to their construction clients, and I think this is one of the first pieces of firm evidence that their systems are now integrating and working together successfully onsite.
Colas posted on LinkedIn about it recently:

Here's a copy of the text from their post:
Colas Rail UK
🚦 Signalling #Sustainability Showcase
🤝 With works underway on the Gloucester Area #Signalling Project (also known as GASP) as part of Network Rail's Signalling Framework, our team have been collaborating with trusted supply chain AFC Energy plc and Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. for #Sustainable solutions on site
🔋 These measures include harnessing the power of #Hydrogen with Two H-Power Towers provided by AFC Energy, powering our welfare facilities, including multiple Eco Cabins and an Eco-Lync Energy Management system provided by Sunbelt Rentals UK & Ireland along with an on-site remote Electric Vehicle charge point.
☀ The team are also utilising a solar and wind powered hybrid lighting tower which is one of the first of its kind to be used in the UK #RailIndustry to reduce #CarbonEmissions
👏 These measures are projected to save 6000kgs of CO2, fantastic initiative team!

Thanks for sharing these customer feedback statements Halfshell, it's certainly compelling reviewing all of these statements together and seeing the themes around commitment from construction to remove diesel generators from their sites and their commitment to investing in hydrogen generators as an alternative.
I'd add the statement from Acciona recently "The system's modularity, scalability and compactness make this an ideal platform to displace diesel generators from our construction sites in the near term"
Thanks for this post below earlier this week Southerhay and for your perspective, It's refreshing to see facts and context rather than the empty ramping/deramping from the day traders.
As we patiently await the next announcement for delivery of the larger unit to ABB, it’s goo to reflect on the fantastic achievements made over the past year or so :
- accelerated development of the S series system
- development of an ammonia cracker system that can be sold as a distinct marketable product that will deliver lower cost hydrogen
- development of a methanol reformer system that can be sold as a distinct marketable product that will deliver lower cost hydrogen
- ongoing development of Alkamem that will also be sold as a distinct marketable product once development has completed
- successful deployments into the construction industry helping these companies achieve sustainable non-diesel solutions helping to reduce particulate emissions that affect the health of each and every one of us!…
- Acciona
-keltbray
- mace
- Kier
- Successful validation of the 100kw S+ series for ABB. we now eagerly anticipate the arrival of the 200kw S+ unit with Ammonia integration. This unit alone will be enough to transform AFC allowing off-grid power generation for EVs as well as supplying full power capacity to major construction sites, powering all their power needs
- anticipated news around marine power but we know this will take longer to develop given the huge engineering involved in ship building.
- significant increase in quality employees with more vacancies shown on the website
This is just a small summary of the achievements so far by AFC and, as we look forward to becoming less dependent on oil and gas from the likes of Russia this will surely lead to a cleaner environment and greater energy independence. Exciting times ahead folks. Yes it’s painful as we begin the transition to Hydrogen, but it’s great to be invested in a GB company that will take us forward towards a cleaner and more sustainable world.
No, you're misinformed when it comes to revenue generation from rentals Gitfinger.... So I have some good news for you (assuming you're a long-term holder?) the leases are all on commercial terms and are generating rental revenue already. In fact, the supply of hydrogen is also on commercial terms in some cases. These new forecasts are therefore realistic and based partly on revenue already being paid by customers for deployments.
Hi Daz, the difference this time is that the forecasts are based on existing revenue that's already being generated by rentals, plus the Acciona order, and the pipeline of up to 10 discounted units to ABB.
Peter Dixon-Clarke has joined the team as CFO since previous forecasts also, he stated during the recent investor presentation that he'd been working closely with the house analyst to create realistic forecasts based on actual contracts and the agreed pipeline with ABB. These are huge differences compared to previous forecasts, don't you agree Daz?
The new revenue forecasts over the next few years from AFC's house analyst looks comfortably achievable based on the ongoing rental revenues from construction clients, the order from Acciona and the agreed discounted pipeline with ABB. Plus any other orders/rentals will be a bonus.
Looking forward to an update on the Acciona order which will be going out in the second half of this year. Personally, I think Acciona will be one of the first of AFC Energy's customers to place a volume order, because they have their own incumbent fleet of gensets they want to replace in the 'near term'.
The words from Acciona themselves back in April state "The system's modularity, scalability and compactness make this an ideal platform to displace diesel generators from our construction sites in the near term".
