Nanonano - I work for a specialist oil and gas company and our people need specific skills and experience. But for the overall health of the company we maintain a cash positive position whenever possible and that means control of overheads and people are the most expensive. Even if we have a high degree of confidence of an order we wait until it’s confirmed as is the nature of a commodity driven market, if the price drops work can be deferred and not return until the price recovers….in the meantime you’ll end up making people redundant days or weeks after hiring possibly after enticing them from a stable career somewhere else……that’s going to ruin their lives and our reputation as a company who values their workforce
