Markets being the perverse entities that they are, a larger than expected rate rise can sometimes be seen as signalling that the economic situation is worse than feared.
Have seen this a few times before, especially when markets have a bearish outlook even before the rate cut
Personally I think it will be a 0.25% cut, but if its 0.5% you might see a lot economic forecasts revisited, to see if they were overly optimistic
