A contract is a contract , india may be slow and bureaucratic but are still subject to law . Cairne took the government to court and they were forced to make a decision pretty quick . India are short of gas , gas is cleaner than coal and they want more gas power stations . Ramgarh power station may be expanding . Focus is a highly respected company in india , what they need is enviromental clearance not planning permission , they already have operator status . The original contract is a psc contract , they have changed to revenue sharing contracts which are slightly different . Focus are highly enviromentally compliant . There is overlap between the contracts between gov. , rajasthan gov. and gail . There has been problems with the gas not turning up from russia and indian gov has a policy of gas self sufficiency , believe me i have spent hours reading on the net and for the life of me i can't find a good reason why indus would not get an extension . Axa left for public relations with their woke customer base not because of problems with the company , and i'm betting we get the extension but also keeping some back for decision day , dyor etc , good luck to all .

The lease you mention is with the rajasthan state government , The contract extension indus are waiting for is the production sharing contract (psc) with the government of india which gives then certain claim over paying and receiving funds from development of the block .

I believe it is likely to be granted , seems to be by mutual consent from what i have read . I can't find any punitive action taken against indus or focus which could be a problem . I guess everthing else is the indian way of doing things.....slowly and eventually .

Yes, The link i posted earlier shows they have shutdown between 3 and five gas turbines for maintenance and when finished will resume full gas use . If we get ten years extension on gas block then it's pretty much guaranteed gas sales .

John389 , the maintenance is in relation to the ramgarh gas power plant ( our main user) which has shut down a number of turbines for maintenance . The contract extension applies to block rj-on/6 which is a gas field .

I didn,t know till i read it , i now have a much clearer picture of what has been happening at indus . Nothing fundamentally wrong with the business , just an exercise in public relations for axa .
