Spudding of Cat Ba-1X Exploration Well Salamander Energy announces the spud of the Cat Ba-1X ("101-CB-1X") exploration well in Block 101-100/04, offshore northern Vietnam. The 101-CB-1X well will be drilled to a depth of approximately 1,900 metres. The primary objective is a Palaeozoic carbonate, (buried hill) structure with secondary objectives in the overlying Tertiary clastic section. The mean gross pre-drill estimate of prospective recoverable resource is approximately 100 MMbo. The well will be drilled by the Aquamarine Driller jack-up rig in a water depth of 49 metres. It is expected to take approximately 25 days to complete on a dry hole basis. Salamander holds a 30% operated interest in Block 101-100/04, subject to final government approval of the farm-out of 20% interest to JX-Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation announced in May 2011.

Investment Update: Proven Energy Limited Low Carbon Accelerator Limited ("the Company" or "LCA") announces that it has made a further investment of £500,000 in Proven Energy Limited ("Proven Energy"). Proven Energy is an industry leader in small scale wind with over 3,500 wind turbines in the field spanning 60 countries and every continent. This investment consists of £350,000 in the form of a secured loan, and an investment of £150,000 whereby LCA will acquire the 20% equity stake in Vigor Wind Limited owned by Proven Energy. Vigor Wind, is an 80% owned subsidiary of Vigor Renewables Limited, the LCA backed project development company formed to take advantage of UK feed-in tariffs. LCA has invested in aggregate £700,000 in Vigor Renewables Limited in the form of non-voting preference shares and an unsecured loan. This follow-on investment takes LCA's total investment in Proven Energy to £11,150,000 of which £9,250,000 represents an equity stake of 81.05% (75.08% on a fully diluted basis post issuance of the senior management team incentive share scheme), £650,000 represents a convertible loan and £1,100,000 represents a secured loan. If the convertible loan and related warrants are exercised, LCA's stake would rise to approximately 88% on a fully diluted basis. This investment is in-line with the budgeted capital requirements of Proven Energy and is consistent with the financial plans it has previously agreed with LCA and highlighted in previous market updates. The proceeds will be used to continue its product development to ensure that it consolidates its market leading position, drives further sales growth and delivers profitable trading this financial year. Mears wins £20 million Photovoltaic solar panel installation contract in Peterborough Mears is pleased to announce the award of a Photovoltaic ("PV") solar panel installation contract in Peterborough which it believes to be the largest Social Housing PV scheme in the UK. The contract award, won with Mears' partner British Gas, is with Cross Keys Homes in Peterborough and will see PV panels fitted to in excess of 3,500 homes. The installation costs are being funded by British Gas as a part of a Feeding in Tariff ("FIT") scheme over a 25 year period. Mears will be carrying out a significant proportion of the installations, as well as all associated works such as scaffolding and electrical components. This scheme will see the first PV fitted in September 2011, with all works completed by April 2012. The Group has valued its share of the contract to be in the region of £20 million.

First half pre-tax profits at Moneysupermarket.com (MONY) were up 332.4 % year-on-year, at 12.5 million pounds. The price comparison website attributes this growth on improved site functionality and investment in brand awareness, where it has spent 5.2 million pounds in offline marketing. As a result of the strong performance the group has decided to issue a special dividend of 20 million pounds, or 3.93p per share, and to increase the interim dividend by 15% to 1.5p. The shares jumped 8.5p to 120.4p

Rotork (ROR) achieved record revenues in the first half of its financial year of 199.4 million pounds, up 8.7% year-on-year, with adjusted pre-tax profits of 50.7 million pounds, up 4.9%. The actuator and gear box manufacturer has also increased its order book to 170 million pounds, up 22.4% from December 2010, which broker Brewin Dolphin notes is 5% higher than the prior record order book in December 2008. The group has continued to expand, buying RSCM in Mexico and VVA in Norway, adding to to its acquisition of Centorkin Spain in July. The shares rose 127p to 1,695p.

Shares in Hargreaves Lansdown (HL.) tumbled 73.5p to 506.5p despite the fund supermarket's efforts to assure shareholders that the FSA's new policy, to ban cash rebates from product providers to platforms, will not have a significant effect on it. Brokers at Morgan Stanley believe that this could force Hargreaves to change its business strategy, as it would need to introduce a discrete customer charge. However, the recent share price weakness is considered an investment opportunity by Citigroup, which raised its recommendation to "buy", with a 700p target price.
