The Board recommends a +8% increase in the final dividend to 70p per share, bringing the total dividend for 2011 to 125p (+9% versus 2010). At the Southeast Deposit three of the new drill holes extend the mineralisation 300 metres to the west of previous known mineralised drill intercepts present in holes drilled last year. At the Northwest Deposit three new drill holes demonstrate the continuity of the mineralised zone in this deposit. And at the Nabore Deposit two drill holes confirm that the mineralised zone is open to the east, which had previously thought to have been closed off and support the view that more mineralisation occurs in this vicinity. Altogether, these are exciting results that, together with magnetic and induced polarisation ground surveys, continue to support our structural model for the continuity of mineralisation in these deposits and of the prospect of Basay developing into a major world class project."

Basay Drilling Update: Long High Grade Intercepts Indicate Large Extensions of Deposit Highlights · High grade intersections continue at the Northwest Deposit including Hole BSM028 intersecting 171 metres of 0.50% Cu; · BSM028 also includes a high grade intercept of 21 metres of 1.09% Cu; · In the Southeast Deposit, BSM025 has intersected 645 metres of long, continuous mineralisation grading 0.36% Cu equivalent*; · 2012 drilling programme underway with 44,000 metres of drilling planned for the year with five rigs currently operating on site; and · Initial JORC compliant resource for Basay slightly delayed owing to continued delays at assay labs, but expected to be completed in February. Copper Development Corporation (AIM: CDC) is pleased to report assay results from drill holes BSM023 to BSM030 at its Basay Project on Negros Island, Philippines, in which CDC has a 70% interest. The Basay project is located 25km southeast of CDC's Hinoba-an project and comprises four known areas of mineralisation: the Central, Northwest, Nabore and Southeast deposits (see the Figure at the end of this announcement for the Basay drill-hole and site plan). Drill results to date continue to confirm the presence of long drill intervals of significant high grade copper-gold-silver-molybdenum mineralisation and support the theory that the four known deposits may be the corners of a large rectangle that are part of a much larger system, with the potential to comprise a major copper deposit.

Daniel Stewart has selected Sportingbet (SBT) as one of its "top picks" for 2012, with an 80p target price. With the acquisition of Danish betting companies Danbook and Scandic Bookmakers, the broker said that the online gambling group increased the percentage of revenues it receives from regulated markets to over 70%. Daniel Stewart added that the firm has an industry leading in:play margin of around 10%, and noted that in:play bets account for 67% of total wagers in Europe. The broker also noted the firm's strong presence in Australia and believes that its in:play betting becomes permitted in the country it could lead to significant revenue growth.

N+1 Brewin initiated coverage of Dialight (DAL) with a "buy" recommendation and 962p target price. The broker believes the LED manufacturer is lighting the way to a new era of illuminative technology, with products that can reduce electricity costs by up to 90%. Brewin also noted the emission reducing benefits of the new lights, with each street lamp converted to LED reducing CO2 emissions by over half a tonne. The broker forecasts EBITDA of 17.7 million pounds for the 2011 financial year, which would put the shares on an EV/EBITDA multiple of 13.2 times, below the 100-day rolling average of 15.6 times

In an unexpected turn of events, Panmure Gordon upgraded its recommendation for Halfords (HFD) from "hold" to "buy", with an increased target price of 375p, from 300p. The broker noted that the bicycle retailer has historically returned significant levels of cash to investors, having bought back 148 million pounds worth of shares and paid 221 million pounds in dividends. Panmure forecasts an unchanged dividend of 22p, offering a yield of 6.7%, easily covered by projected cash flows in the range of 70 million to 80 million pounds

Authorities in the United States have levied a $22 million fine on Smith & Nephew over bribes paid to Greek doctors to induce sales of the company’s medical devices. The London-based healthcare company, which specialises in surgical equipment, including artificial hips and knees, admitted yesterday that a distributor in Greece had made “improper payments” over a decade running up to 2008. According to charges laid by the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission, sums of $9.4m were paid by Smith & Nephew to an offshore shell company controlled by the Greek distributor. The US Government said that “some or all” of this money was passed on to physicians to “corruptly induce them” to favour the company’s products, The Times says.

BAE Systems is considering lowering the price of its Eurofighter Typhoon to win back an $11bn (£7bn) Indian contract from France’s Dassault. Ian King, BAE’s chief executive, said the company was considering a range of options to secure the deal to supply fighter jets, which could help prevent a major industrial setback for Britain. A source close to the company said BAE was consulting with its partners in Germany, Italy and Spain to see what was feasible in the coming days and weeks. India had previously changed its mind on defence contracts, the source said, adding there was “still some way to go” before any decisions by the country had been made. The insider insisted the contract was still up for grabs, with Dassault’s Rafale only having been named as the lowest-priced compliant bidder rather than being awarded the contract.

UBS has raised its target price for oil and gas giant Cairn Energy from 291p to 370p after the shares went ex-dividend yesterday with a share consolidation.

Wolfson Microelectronics, which makes components for mobile phones and tablet computers made an underlying operating loss in 2011 of $7.5m. In every key metric the firm was weaker than during 2010. Revenues were down from $157.3m to $156.9m. After taking account of exceptional items the operating loss was $24.2m, compared to an $11.3m loss in 2010. Total cash at the beginning of January was $53.4m with no debt. The quarterly figures are not much better. Revenues in the final three months of last year were $36.9m versus $45.8m in the comparable period of 2010.

In the Times, Tempus argues the bull case for banking group Standard Life. Like many financials it’s had a tricky few months but has been rising since the autumn of 2011. The new automatic enrolment pension requirements and a potential ban on commissions for independent financial advisers puts Standard Life in a very strong position, says Tempus. With the management incentivised to boost profits, and the current market price not reflecting the target earnings figure, Tempus says buy.

ranslogik iProbe order from Bridgestone Brazil Transense Technologies plc ("Transense") (AIM: TRT), the provider of sensor systems for the transportation and industrial markets, is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Translogik Limited ("Translogik"), has received an order from Bridgestone Brazil ("Bridgestone") for its next-generation iProbe commercial tyre inspection tool1. The iProbe provides a robust, reliable and user-friendly wireless solution for cost effective monitoring of tyre pressure and tread depth. Bridgestone began work on integrating the iProbe into its systems in April (see announcement2 dated 21 April 2011). This work is now complete and, following a successful field trial and positive feedback from Bridgestone's customers, it is anticipated that further orders will follow as part of an on-going deployment programme by Bridgestone.
