SSE should be filling their boots at these prices. In terms of the proposed cap on standard variable tariffs the cap/limit has yet to be defined. Any shortfall will most likely be recovered by increasing fixed rate tariffs.

I am afraid the wild swings in SP continue here. Usually recovers into the close although not today. The FCA really have to look at this because 4-5% intra day volatility on a daily basis is not on when it is based on no news. How can they justify it? By no means the only share...

Given SSE's assets particularly in the renewable energy sector one would think it may be vulnerable to a take over in the near future. This sector has had a lot of M&A activity in recent years after all.

Good for their share buy backs I suppose. National Grid experienced a similar fall during their buy back programme - makes you think. I thought utilities were supposed to be 'defensive'?

Deutsche Bank ups Debenhams to 'hold' from 'sell' after shares' slide as yield provides buffer n a note to clients today, Deutsche’s analysts said: “Debenhams faces many challenges: a long-lease property portfolio, a weak apparel market with online channel shift, a recovering competitor, adverse margin pressures and limited scope to save costs. “It is operationally and financially leveraged in an uncertain consumer environment.” They pointed out that new chief executive, Sergio Bucher’s strategy update “did not answer many questions, but kick-started a range of trials which may bear fruit in the future.” The analysts said that the most important thing for them was the protection of Debenham’s dividend, even though its capex guidance was raised. Even if DEB earned virtually nothing for the next 6 months we are looking at a P/E of 8. What do people think is a fair SP here? I would say 80p+ based on full year EPS of 8p.

3.42p maintained as FY dividend so 6.6% at current SP. 1.02p interim.

H1 EPS 5.6p Even assuming a massive reduction of half for H2 P/E is very low at 6. Dividend maintained and now approaching 7% Debt reduced also.
