Ratesetter is very underrated, Metro did well to acquire it for the amount and the way the did. The tech and date alone is worth multiples of the total £12 million it will cost Metro.

Closest floated comparison we have in the UK is Funding Circle which has a market cap of 328.47 million as of writing. Of course it's not an apples to apples comparison but it's a very good indicator.

They did maybe 10% as their holding had materially changed by the 19th

Looking at it with rose tinted glasses they are still +1.59% compared to 23rd October...

They crossed that threshold on the 19th.

Don't know what that means in terms of change of control bands.

GS pushed to 8.48% back in March 2020 which "arose due to an operational issue". So watch out for any shenanigans later today with follow on TR1 filings.

If that doesn't happen then GS is either happy to enter the '10% or more but less than 20%' control band. Or more worryingly they have not appreciated the significance of the extra 0.17% in voting rights.

The control bands could also explain why we have not seen big holders bordering the 10% mark average down.

Maybe someone should ask Metro Bank’s investor relations. If you all ask then they might even publish a statement on the matter.

From what I understand, if the control band applies to you then you have to inform the regulator if you drop below the threshold as well.

On the other hand GS have a history of stretching the rules so it could amount to a mistake that pushed them over.

Still it’s far more meaningful since the last go round.

What do you make of this in terms of Goldman Sachs now have over 10% voting rights?

Do they need to seek permission? Or do they have permission?

No change in short activity

This is a new high for them as previously they went up to 8.48% from what I can see.

It might be more of the same but doesn't change the fact they now have 10.17% of voting rights, plus a lot has changed since the last time they did this.
