FYI I carried out a bed and ISA in April this year with HL and doing it online is dirt cheap, costing me just 284 shares (a mere £41.50) on £20k max allowance. I initially rang their customer services who were as helpful as always but told me it was a lot cheaper to do it on line. They talked me through the process and the spread was just .146 / .1462. Not sure what happened but that spread was a shocker. Good luck for next time, but no need to look at other platforms in my opinion.

For what it's worth I dropped an email to John back in May this year and received a reply the following day. The gist of it being: (obviously can't copy and paste the original email) They are hoping to make an announcement in the next couple of weeks. The board are looking to bring in a deal which looks very promising. The oil price capitulation killed our previous deal. As you can imagine I was somewhat chuffed about this, but having heard nothing I emailed him some two months later + phone calls and surprise surprise, no response... I assume this has gone down the pan, but like others have posted it would be nice to know, just so I can offset the losses against my capital gains, if nothing else.
