Still here, 80c to go until break even. When is the dividend payment date? I've probably jinx the share price now, sorry everyone.
I love the optimism on here. Yeah I might hold on for dividend. That would make up some of the loss.
€10.80
Of this reaches 9.30 I'm out with a loss, in it just over 10yrs, thinking it might do well. Before ye comment. Bought on 25th Feb 2014. Rolled the dice and lost. Would love to see 10.80, nearly got there but alas not to be.
It's very hard not to sell them all at this price point, considering the very long climb, that I've experienced since early 2014.
What to do, what to do....... If I sell them all I make approx (don't laugh each to their own) €3400 after tax but thats with approx 50% in profit and the rest at a loss. The temptation is to wait and see if they rise more towards dividend date.
That 100 shares is only a small part of my holding. It was a test of selling on the platform is use.
And yes the forum has seen better days.
I sold 100 (don't laugh, never said my position was huge), but was in profit by over 100%. That has given me a little comfort and it was a test as it was the first time I have sold any on the platform I use. And since this morning the price went up, so part of me is saying stay the course and take your advise.
I think its time to off load the few shares I got in Feb 14 they are at a loss but the little bit of dca means that I have very small amount of profit if I off the lot. I was going to at 9.60 but was so close to break even then, greed clouded my judgement. I think limit order at €9.00 and leave it at that. Still better return than leaving it the bank since 2014.
GLA
With the price rising, I'm still hopeful that my position from Feb 14 will come good. I still need a €10.80 just to break even. God its some wait.
Enjin, cardano, ripple and 2 others. Its nuts to see the swings, enjin is up 32% today! But could easily be down 52% tomorrow or later today. Anyway, sold some boi and realistically bought into something I know sfa about. It's an absolute gamble but I'm just going to hold them for a year and see.
Decided to invest at little bit of disposable cash, if there is such a thing, in cryptocurrency. Should be interesting to watch over the next year. More interesting g than this one. Sold some bol to get money for it.
Thank you.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, I have looked but cant seem to find it and I recall people saying on this forum that you can.
@Irish Renegade, many thanks for reply and honesty. I have invested in low to med risk with a fund and thats doing ok. Pension is sorted. BOI was my 1st ever toe into trading! but that has not worked out a good as I thought, there is no such but thing as a sure thing. However I think this share for me will come good to break even, so I will just leave it sit.
I will look at other shares or funds for continue with trading little bits and hope it works out over time, hopefully gains will beat losses. Thanks again.
@Irish_renegade
Thanks for real response, I wish I had more disposable income in Apr 20 and I would have put more in but that's just the way it was. My actual investment is as follows, small numbers as I'm not an investor but money in the bank was going nowhere so took a punt (I think the average is approx €5.78 to break even but I have very little knowledge about shares etc) you might be able to confirm it?
2/14 10000@ €0.36 or 334@€10.80 pre reverse split
9/19 83@ €3.63
4/20 415@€1.74
3/21 55@€3.53
I'm not interested in BITCOIN. And can't commit to 2500 extra share of BOI (but I see the merit in what you are saying, my only holding is in BIRG at present and the wise man said never put all your eggs in the one basket)Just something that is Low to med risk over 2/3years, trying to make up for loss on BIRG. I just don't know enough about trading and market and there are plenty who will BS about where to invest that will make you €€€€€€ but I'm guessing they wouldn't be here if they were doing that well.
Thanks for reply again.
I bought into this Feb 2014, thinking it would be a good hold until 2022 ish. I bought at approx €10.70 pre reverse split.
A wise man said to me here, when I asked is was this a good idea, would I walk into paddy power and drop 6k on an unknown horse in the next race and hope he wins, well the answer to that is no and after 7 yrs, it feels like i did just that. To try and average down I dipped my toe again Apr 2020, i bought 415 @ 1.74 and that will help make some gains back. But I won't be buying anymore in BOI.
I have opened a Degiro account, to trade little amounts each month (their fees are are lot less than Goodbody) was thinking of Cruise liner industry or something else. Just buy now maybe and leave for a 2-3 years. Any wise man still out there who could give some real advice? Yes I still know that I could loose the whole lot, wife has been reminding of that fact since Feb 2014.
Before I start. I know buying shares is a gamble which is something I rarely ever do.
I 've bought in twice to this share and it's the shares I have. Bought as an investment toward m&s covering the costs of 3rd level education for my now 11yr old. Bought in at 36cents old money but it's continued to drop since. So I thought i would go again and bought the same amount of shares at 24.5 cents old money. And it still continues to drop. It now appears to the very inexperienced that this price is good approx 16.5 cent old money. My question is if BOI was taken over what are the real risks to the small share holder. I'm very tempted to buy the same amount of shares and triple down with the hope that I can free up the first and second lump sums before 2023, when my first child might begin 3rd level.
I've bought in twice. The second time was to try and make up the lose from first buy. But it's just continued to drop since Feb 14. I'm in until 2022/3, fund was for first child's college fund. Question now is do I but in again when it's lower or just leave that money in the bank.
What about 10yr fixed, with 10% monthly overpayment off capital without penalty. Reduce the term and you can cancel the overpayment if you need to?
I've emailed the ISE today and am waiting for a reply. But in the mean time if I am to contact Mr Cronin, what should be said. I'm a novice at this but have been watching this forum and the SP since I bought in and its amazing that its at this price.
