Molkys- like that - when does the book come out :-)
Aye, obviously no inference or implication are intended. I did once think about writing a film script in the mood/genre of Whisky Galore/Local Hero for the £1 Party. I had great fun sketching out the characters - Myo, PAAA, et al. Alas, ...
Q: What is stopping SM speaking up? A : Takeover Rules My turn to play the absurd
A gang of shopkeepers was sitting on Bondi Beach having a few tinnies. After talking about their Sheilas and family talk soon turned to business. Especially the business of young Buck, who had over-stretched the budget with his expansion plans. Turned out that Buck needed a partner or to sell or it was the end.
Uncle Rio -"Strewth didn't know it was that bad! you have great footfall, a great product, contracts, contacts, everything going for you Buck"
Young Buck - "I am just running out of time and money, I was just a bit too ambitious with my design, I have people interested though, they have been doing there due diligence forever"
Uncle Rio - "Tell them tough, I am going to put the money up",
Young Buck - "Thanks Rio"
Uncle Rio -"No, not really, just to get their a*se in gear"
So many angry people are evident. So much fight and flight evident. So little hearing taking place. Days later the anger is still clouding the judgement of so many. Instead of reading this BB and reinforcing your negativity why not read the RNS, Takeover Regulations, the press. Then return to this BB and read the BB with an open mind - because some of the posters have contributed some relevant information. wwgov, emily, socerer all spring to mind.
What I have found really distasteful is the venom and spite offered to the innocent. Fill the hole, concrete it over, flatten it. That selfish, spiteful attitude that we (me included) have lost vast sums of money, therefore, the good folk of North Yorkshire can f ckoff. Disgusting capitalism of the highest order - fat cat behaviour - and you should know better.
Smalltimeii - seems we are on the same page!
I have read every post over the last couple of days and I have been appalled and humbled by the comments. The support offered to fellow contributors is heart warming yet the insults and macabre gratification in celebrating the losses of others is simply disgusting. Shame on you all who cannot man-up and take the blame for your own actions – whether you consider yourself mis sold or otherwise. And, before anyone points a finger – I am down over £40,000 – a life changing amount. And an ill-health retirement offers little means of recouping that like the younger investor. Yet I will. I have no right to blame any poster on here, I was not seduced by rampers or influenced osmosis like through the constant posting of either technical or cheery/humorous matter. Nor was I forced to sell by the constant negatives of Bucky and others. I did my own research, but I was culpable of allowing an emotional connection in wanting it to succeed for the benefit of our North East, and that meant I did not follow my own rules. And it COULD cost me.
The emphasis is on the word ‘could’ as it is not a formal offer, the company is still going ahead with the Strategic Review.
My take, for what it is worth – my hunch – is that this has been rushed out following some leak on Monday. SM will not be allowed to discuss the situation as it will compromise the DD process already taking place now – and hence the silence. The 5th of February date is of interest for AAL but also for us as shareholders as that passes Brexit Day. Early February – Enter the Dragon? Anyone remember the furore just before Christmas with the translated Chinese newspaper post making it sound like the Chinese were just waiting for the day/date and they were invested. I cannot remember who posted the link (sorry). I cannot see them being outbid by AAL. If they want it they will have it is my take.
Similarly, anyone remember the informative posts from Myo and others (so sorry I cannot remember names) explaining the benefits of the Joint Venture of SM and the Qataris. Are the Qataris just going to walk away from that? What about the Qatari and Norwegian fertilizer JV (Yara) I have always had them down as being a major player somewhere along the path to divis. I still do.
What about the other miners seeking Tier 1, environment reputational boosting, highly profitable, long-life, stable environment assets BHP, Rio, Vale, ICL, Fortescue, Gina, for starters
I am holding – well I am holding 70% (I sold 30% at 5.5+p) to see how it plays out.
Two things for sure: this has still got a long way to go and, it is far too early to condemn CF until we are in possession of all the facts.
GLA
Appychap - I for one really hope so. Prove them all wrong CF, lets get these shafts sunk!

I see @Trendsandtargets.com have presented another article on SM. I know technical analysis is of little use to us atm owing to so much uncertainty and challenge. Yet I think it worthy of sharing the gist of the article
"Sirius HAD been getting painful, achieving and even breaking our prior drop target at 3.3p. However… it is possible the share is now preening itself in the hope of providing a little Christmas miracle.
… it appears clear the market is reacting to the trend, so hopefully the price can find an excuse to do something positive .."
(The targets: movement above 3.9p is supposed to generate a lift to 4.3p next. Secondary up to 5p. Above 13p we are back to our historic up trend and giving considerable hope for the longer term.
The threats: close below 3.41p (the down trend) and we are heading for 1.4p) paraphrased
Modsto - molkys , nice to see you saying nice things about your neck of the world .had a great holiday around Barnard Castle ….County Durham ….a great place to tour.
Aye, I live just south of Durham City, regularly go to Barny, we have the beautiful, quiet coasts of Northumberland to the north, the beautiful North York Moors to the south, the fantastic Lakes to the west and of course Sunderland ;-) to the east. Who could ask for anything more. We certainly scored well with the looks, just missed out on the money!
"The north of England is home to 15 million people, living across a strikingly diverse geography: it includes five major city regions, 265 towns and almost 1,000 villages and smaller communities (CfT 2018).6 The North has 29 universities, eight major ports, and the UK’s largest airport outside of the South East. It has world-leading businesses and an economy larger than that of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland put together; if it were a country it would be the eighth largest in the EU."
Just been reading State of the North 2018 Reprioritising the Northern Powerhouse by the Institute for Public Policy Research. The gist of it is there needs to be a much wider definition and action plan for the Northern Powerhouse than George Osborne’s plan. The report focuses on 5 recommendations: “we set out five priorities for northern leaders to take this important agenda into a new phase”.
1. COMMIT TO A ‘WHOLE NORTH’ APPROACH
2. SUPPORT JOB CREATION AND PRODUCTIVITY IN HIGH-GROWTH AND LARGE-EMPLOYMENT SECTORS OF THE ECONOMY
3. INVEST IN BOTH INFRASTRUCTURE AND PEOPLE
4. DELIVER ECONOMIC JUSTICE
5. LEAD FROM THE NORTH
Of course, the government does not have to follow the report. But the report is full of damning evidence of the failings of the central government and more importantly the growing strength of the uniting northern authorities who are prepared to campaign with one voice. We have already seen some evidence of this with the letter to the government in support of SM by local MPS. After reading all 68 pages I am even more convinced there will be government support for the project. And not just a loan guarantee. Not because of this report, per se, but because it is the right thing to do for the region and the country.

Modsto - There are two ways to be fooled .One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true , soren kierkegaard
I find it so hard to believe that you are so well-read. Perhaps you have that quote prominently displayed as it serves your purpose to repeat it. It is only two days since you came up with this cracking piece of intellect: .. 'molkys if you live in county durham you are middle class' .. yes, better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you are an idiot than open it and confirm it.
Fred16 - good quotes, and may I add: 'never doubt what you know to be true' I seem to think that was quoted by J Glickenhaus
Modsto123 'molkys if you live in county durham you are middle class'
Nope Modsto - if you live in County Durham you are far superior to mere middle-class. As this site has shown repeatedly the lack of class is so much more evident in the greedy and impatient, regardless of wealth, privilege or locality.
Scotman - no, I live in the second poorest county in England: Durham. I am a Sunderland lad and have seen the city and the area severely affected by 'Londoncentric' policy - re shipyards and mines. Even to the extent of redundancy more than once. I deplore the idea of people on zero-hours contracts and living day to day, never mind week to week. Until one of my brothers committed suicide in August of this year he was living this way - and that way of living is not compatible with pride. What I object to with Croz comments is the sweeping generalisation that people on benefits are scroungers. This idea prevents people from seeking help. I also find the sweeping generalisation of immigrant full to be racist especially as that is followed up with snowflake encouraging. And I have no special privileges at all I am an ill-health early retired 60 year old who is a long term holder in SXX and desperately want it to succeed for the benefit of the many. With regard to yourself Scotman, I have always looked out for your posts, you are straight, direct and offer some good points of interest. I have no wish to argue - I just take offence at posts that are so flippant and insulting.
Croz2492 '....this country is becoming a joke. It’s a horrible , expensive, Londoncentric , dirty, Immigrant full, snowflake encouraging, benefit scrounging joke.'
What a shocking thing to say. I just wonder how you are qualified to make such a statement? How you would support your point with data, facts, research? Sometimes it is far better to keep your mouth shut and have people think your an idiot than open your mouth and confirm it. Idiot.
Must have been asleep longer than I thought. When did they privatise the Fire Service?
'Your house on fire? Call 0800 999' 'This week only BOGOF'
Lamtree - Yeah, no problem re Mendonca, after all, he is a Sunderland lad. Two good clubs with two good sets of fans - and being a fan of Sunderland gives you those much-needed qualities of hope and patience. Very important for a LTH holder of Sirius. It will come good. GLA
lamtree .. try telling that to a Sunderland supporter. Having said that I enjoyed my day out down that there London for the play-offs. Good craic with both sets of supporters.
Spot-on AlanG. And I agree the polyhalite may be time-limited but I just wonder what Sirius Minerals will develop into using their patents, retained profits, joint-venture partners and so on. It would be fantastic to have the mine, the processing, binding or whatever added to a major head office in the area. Thus resulting in employment for the area, whatever that may look like, for generations long after we have departed
Scotman - re your 17:17 post. Yes, I could not agree more. It is so easy to criticise CF with the benefit of hindsight or through the eyes of ignorance. I have every faith in CF, and the BoD, and I am so pleased a lot of the LTH have remained loyal despite the best efforts of some truly abhorrent people.
