The first stage 200MWh electrolyte production facility will need 1,100 tonnes of vanadium per year when running at full capacity and approx 4,400 tonnes if it gets expanded to the permitted 800 MWh.
This why BMN are expanding their vanadium production.

One off total of 37,655 tonnes of vanadium required (over next 1-3 years ?)
Global vanadium production in 2020 - 109,418 tonnes
I've been using a figure of 4.5 tonnes of vanadium per MWh based on an estimate published in Jan 2020 of 4.4t/MWh.
BMN have been consistently saying that they expect their 200 MWh electrolyte plant to consume approx 1,100 tonnes pa.
So I'm now using 5 tonnes of vanadium per MWh for my project list.
This changes the total amount of vanadium required for large scale VRFBs over the next few years from 34,070 tonnes to 37,655.
7,000 MWh of energy storage tenders in India.
Hopefully, VRFB's will capture some of this to put more pressure on the world vanadium supply.

It's worth pointing out that one of the potential bidders (Harmattan Renewables) in the upcoming tender believes that the 513 MW of storage will be four hour systems.
So this gives a total of 2,052 MWh to go for.

The tender process for 513 MW of energy storage should start in the next few weeks.

From the BMN annual report - "Participating in large upcoming battery energy storage tenders in South Africa. These include the World Bank-funded BESS programme at Eskom, which has already issued 827 MWh in tender opportunities.
Another is the 513 MW battery procurement programme announced by the Independent Power
Programme Procurement Office."

We already know that they prefer VRFB over lithium.
Rather than look at an odd day in isolation, try looking at the bigger picture.

Since March 2020 there has been an increase in their combined holdings every single month from 445m in March 2020 to 594m at the end of June 2021.
This is a gradual accumulation by private investors which now accounts for 50% of the total stock and is still increasing.
There is only a finite amount of stock to sell.

Combined with the rising price of vanadium means increasing profit margins.
In my opinion, most potential investors won't bother signing up to a Telegram group, especially the elder generation. So any useful information posted there will be denied to anyone who browses through bulletin boards looking for potential investments.
How many other Telegram groups do folks look at? None or very few that they are not invested in I would guess.
I would encourage the Telegram group to continue to post on here as well to make any useful info available to as wide an audience as possible.
