They're Lithium-Ion, not solid Lithium Metal.

A long-lasting, stable solid-state lithium battery
Researchers demonstrate a solution to a 40-year problem:
"“A lithium-metal battery is considered the holy grail for battery chemistry because of its high capacity and energy density,” said Xin Li, Associate Professor of Materials Science at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). “But the stability of these batteries has always been poor.”
Now, Li and his team have designed a stable, lithium-metal solid state battery that can be charged and discharged at least 10,000 times — far more cycles than have been previously demonstrated — at a high current density. The researchers paired the new design with a commercial high energy density cathode material."

It's not exactly an excuse when I've got **** all to do with the company (bar a very small investment) and they remain tight lipped. I'm just paying attention to Mali's situation because I'm invested in this company, and the whinging is unproductive and boring.
Now, I'm just making assumptions based on my own research, but Bernie probably doesn't want to imperil his operation and the forthcoming license by flapping gums on a difficult political situation when a military junta is still lurking in the background of the transition (which has stalled somewhat during the ongoing 'health emergency'). Anyone worth their salt should be keeping tabs on the Mali political situation anyway.
Granted, this is a new stock for me, but I see the potential and it's worth a punt, with a medium-to-long-term view. Bureaucracy in unstable countries moves incredibly slow as a matter of course. Throw in other challenges and it's even more-so. Patience, lads. Patience.
Mali just had a coup d'etat last year, and the transitional government hasn't yet dissolved the CNSP (the junta).
Pay attention to their politics, folks. A coup with a shaky af transitional arrangement and a military junta still clinging to power in the face of transition, coupled with the state of emergency due to covid, might just mean other priorities are in play for now.
Patience is key, imo.
Mali's been in a state of emergency over health (covid) since December 2020, and won't be out of it until midnight 26th June 2021 (unless they extend again). I can see why the government might have been focused on other things, and why Bernie doesn't have more info.
