Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
How bizarre, I emailed company yesterday asking for information about the appeal (on what grounds was the third party opposing the development) and suggesting an RNS would be helpful to SP!!! No answer to my email yet but a lovely RNS ... coincidence I suppose? This one is right under the radar and happy with my modest investment - should have chucked more at it!!!
I imagine, if nothing else, the extensive use of manual labour is distributing a nice bit of cash into the local economy and, unless there is a huge cost penalty (ay this scale of mining), maybe it is all for the good; local and regional goodwill must be important to the company and for the security of operations.
I'm in after watching from the side-lines for 6 months - guessing Q4 should see some action. Planning LTH here. Africa is Africa but these guys seem to have good local co-operation and working in harmony - risk I am comfortable with.....
Topped up yesterday and might mobilise a bit more yet - after some losses on PVR the Irish owe me one!!!
SammyBow - Director of communications Sothwesterner - Technical Director Gets my vote!!! Joking aside, Sammy agreed 100% - its the 21st century, media rules..... Mike
I had a personal email reply from Bill after thanking him ref the Parys visit (and my also making similar but not specific observations about need for media coverage, etc.) so I don't mind framing your request if you like Sammy although I would imagine he would probably respond to anyone's email provided it was relevant, civil and reasonable. As shareholders I am sure we are entitled to make our views known especially as we are all in the same boat here and hopefully hold the same objectives. I can understand there may come a point where hectoring and pestering is counterproductive but I don't think we are anywhere near that and, as has been said many times, we need to get the story out there to get new investors to come on board and LTHs not become disillusioned and sell up. A gentle side down (what we have) is not helping anyone and some timely comms might help establish a base from which AYM can grow.
Brent, Thnaks again for organising all and liaising with Bill. For me it was a most informative visit and I feel there is really some momentum behind plans now. I feel very much more confident in the Parys project now and definitely hanging in for this journey and prepared to invest more as we see the milestones achieved. Plan B should be for converting shaft for long term waste receptacle for fission materials (as already rumoured apparently) and then cover the mountain with wind turbines - cash flow should be good on both counts LOL. All the best.
You may be right about the 3 years (so what?) and, as regards the forward zinc price, you are merely pointing out the obvious i.e. no one knows where it will be in 3 years time and that includes all prospective mine start ups. Presumably a short to medium term view (on price) is taken in the FS and, further down the line, forward contracts will be secured to underpin a proportion of forward earnings and hedge the market? I think we understand this so not sure if you are adding anything new to the equation MM..... l emeditxw
Agreed CT. How many going to the AGM do we know? - I am planning to go and keeping the diary free for this one.....
You have hit the nail on the head ref resilience of the economic case against the likely 'random walk' of metal prices. The trouble is IMO every rise sows the seeds of the next glut/oversupply as more old mines are reworked and new deposits brought into production (predicated on firmer prices) and the chances are we will be 'out of sync' by the time we get to production - a point, I think, made by the dastardly MM..... On the other hand, there seem to be many companies (e.g. SXX and RBW come immediately to mind) that have negotiated good forward contracts and, in principle, do not see why that cannot happen here. The key point for me; it remains to be seen if BOD have the will, tenacity and skill set to bring in one or more of the big boys in on terms that make sense for the LTSHs.
Now invested so wondering if price will wobble - seems to be hall mark of all my buy decisions! When do we think there will be next update/RNS? Live webcam of mine entrance would be quite diverting (request to BOD?) although perhaps a bit oppressive for the workers!!!
Good points Wizard. I will invest some next week - going to be a slow burner I think but perhaps less risky than the countless African miners and if too worried we can get a bus (plane/ferry in my case) to go and check on progress!! Rgds Mike
Hi Brent - can you add another to my party? My friend Chris Whitby expressing interest in my 'worst investment to date' lol! So that is Mike, Mary & Chris in our party. Wonder where the SP will be at the time of the visit? If we ran a book at least someone might make some money out of this share..... Trev good posts all. ' MM puzzling me and I guess will not be wasting his money on a site visit so we won't have the pleasure of his company?
And then there were three!
Sammy - good points indeed. London is quite easy for me so think I will go to AGM. Seems to me that a buoyant SP must be critical to Company's long term growth and survival (more dosh needed 2018/19) so totally agree that appearance on Proactive video and more/some courting of obvious media outlets will help get word out that there is a 30% IRR, relatively low risk project, on our doorstep there for the taking. Need a bigger shareholder base to achieve this IMO and fully understand long term share holders unlikely to tip more in without a step wise change in approach and an acceleration of progress. Sometimes promotion can be as, or more important, than what is in the ground and if the present BOD to do not have the flair or appetite for the former then they should get someone in who can help here - otherwise time and funds are going to run out.
OK Wizard, that is the sanity issue dealt with anyway! You are spot on with comment ref UKOG etc. where I am (no surprise) also heavily invested. I think this looks like a good entry point for me and can't see too many downsides - well under the radar for sure at present. Have you been invested long? Don't know what it is about GAL but feel decent there upside here and happy to take a 12-18 month view... Rgds
25% slide in 3 months - that is not down to POO imo but beginning to smell like it or something fishier!! Have fundamentals changed? imo no. Agree there is something going on and know not what at present....holding.
Spot on POD. unfortunately I jumped in at 97p but holding and will top up if further drift down. Classic value play - I hope!! Note to self; patience.....
I am mad to invest here? On the plus side; they are not in Africa, they are digging now and POG/minerals prices looking good for medium term. On the face of it better prospect than AYM (already invested) where there is a similar hole in the ground (since 1800's) but no digging yet!!! Thoughts/observations welcome!
If this helpful trend continues I will be back into the black soon! Should have topped last week to get my avcp down I never learn... Never mind, should not complain about rising SP and will top up tomorrow anyway.
