RE: I have a general life question18 Jan 2021 07:15
I wouldn't worry about a mortgage, you are never really tied in to a single location or property any more than with renting. You want to up and move, simple, list your house and port your mortgage to a new property. The process takes longer and costs more but the outcome is the same. I'm in a pretty similar situation except I decided I didn't want the debts of university and joined the army for 8 years, I'm now 27, travelled all over the world, lived out of Germany for my career and on the flip side ready to make some money in the markets whilst I find a new career but you've got the education to get you into great jobs if you're willing to stick it out.
Money is the key to happiness, everything requires it, the more you have the nicer and better things/places you can go to and see.
If the lack of focus is an issue then you really just need to concentrate on a goal and achieve it before moving on, set many for work/personal life. Perhaps first up is the make it to 100k on the markets (my current goal but 28k shy) or something more relatable that's based off the old SMART theory. Maybe you get distracted or lose focus because your goals aren't actually achievable from the place you're sitting so they never appear to get any closer.
