European Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton asserted on Sunday the European Union is on track to meet COVID-19 vaccination targets by the middle of July.
"We are confident that we will be able to produce a sufficient number of vaccines to achieve the goal of collective immunity, which means that 70% of the adult population would have been vaccinated by mid-July," Breton said in an interview with Greek newspaper To Vima.
Commenting on the vaccination pace, Breton argued EU member states should get ready to speed up the inoculation campaigns as 400 million more COVID-19 vaccine doses are expected to be delivered to the bloc in the second quarter of 2021.
