Imagine a company Where the transport manager says " we have to pay 4 hours to cover that 1 hour collection or they won't come in , we call it Saturday tax or something " or allow a duty to ghost 3 or so hours just to cover it. That's regular in my old Mail Centre. A bit like blackmail, incredibly wasting hours money daily

Work ethics , I'd say in the MC I worked had a third of the staff cared , the rest were there trying to do as little as possible.

definitely 2 tier , the less you do the more you get paid. As the strikes go i can see a long bitter dispute , what they want is mind boggling , annualised hours , sick pay and loads of allowances for duties people dont even do, the last one is fair. i do believe some postmen are wrongly living below the breadline for a company making the money it does. For a company so old, things are slow when trying to live with other companies , need to modernise asap to compete.

I took VR and my last day of service was fri , so glad i`n out . In CF MC where i worked you wouldn`t believe the wasted hours. Bay staff that sit on chairs betwen unloading artics ( 4 man job ) 600 drivers who literally spend the nights stood round drinking tea and in 8 hours shifts driving to 2 offices and getting paid night allowance to leave mail in an office at 3 am and at this there is no staff in them , cheaper to make them mornings and start at 4am with no damage to the service obligation. Then Class 2 drivers literally even less . I speak from experience . What do management do ? nothing just stand around talking with them , if every office wasted money lke CF MC DOES then no wonder they are losing a million pound a day
