Although I was trading PLSR and sold when it topped out, the story in the FT and yesterday's announcement by Airgas (Air Liquide) below got me thinking of making an investment here for the LT. 50d SMA has been good support so looking closely. BREAKING: US industrial gas supplier Airgas declared a force majeure, telling a customer it would only meet up to 50% of their normal monthly helium demand amid the Iran War, per WSJ.

Details include:

1. The world is facing a significant helium shortage amid the Strait of Hormuz's closure which has limited ~30% of global helium supply

2. Airgas also told the client that it would add a surcharge of $13.50 per hundred cubic feet above the contracted price

3. Helium supplies which are "critical for AI" have been "choked off," per WSJ

4. Hundreds of specialized cryogenic containers, each costing $1 million, are now stuck in the Middle East

Global helium supply is at risk.

Why did I buy Creightons?

#CRL has been good to me in the past. A business I have followed for years. Mistakes were made by management in 2021 which I believe we can 'forget' now. Pippa is MD where she belongs. The promoted CFO is a safe pair of hands (previously at #MHA...a current holding)

The corporate structure has changed drastically for the better. I hope to see the broker putting out FCs into the market after FY results. A stab at the numbers (take with a pinch of salt):

FY Rev ~£53m

op Profit ~£3.5m

a trickier one to work out (dil?) EPS say 3.25-3.5p. Current market cap of £25m seems too cheap. Debt should be near zero.

I am comfortable taking a position now. Results & in person presentation is next week.

Why did I buy #ALU Alumasc?

I think they're tracking ahead of expectations:

They had £57.5m Rev & uPBT of £7.5m at 1H. FC for FY25 are for £110m rev + £14.1m respectively.

Historically usually a 50:50 split if not a better 2H. They've already stated increases from Apr wont affect profits.

"confident of achieving expectations" & they've had a good run since end23 whilst many in the sector have struggled. Management clearly doing something right - high ROE & ROCE.

On a PE of ~11 and FY trading update next week. Bounced of the 200SMA & still trending. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
