To be honest I don't really follow the other treatments that closely. This drug dropped out of Activ 2 from memory at the P2 stage. I don't believe this is a treatment as such but to be used as a prophylactic or very early in infection but with those very vulnerable people who are susceptible to severe covid and who possibly cant have the vaccines. It may be another useful tool

Like vaccines, even from this dataset, they are not 100% perfect and hence there is a proportion of people still getting symptomatic disease and if these people end up in hospital (will need to see the full data readout to understand this) then there is a role for SNG001.

Whilst I have not read the report in full and will do so later, I guess you have to put that report into context with a commercial operation like Shell testing the product for 12 months and then taking up a global framework agreement for the product.

Reading between the lines, this tender is suggesting that DHSC now realise that vaccination is not having the desired effect in reducing transmission of covid. As good as they have been in reducing disease severity/deaths they have failed on this and DHSC are now scrambling for a solution.

Problem is, it is not easy to come up with efficacious prophylactic/early stage pills for respiratory viral infections.

It was a flip of a coin pre P2 readout in June 2020. SP of 35p and that was really a binary investment at that point. Those of us who took that gamble have been rewarded.

The data and science, particularly that which relates to sars-cov2’s ability to evade the initial innate IFN response, as well as auto antibodies against IFN and the higher degree of severe disease for these people, that has come out since that July 2020 pushes the odds of success much higher!

It might be 50:50 in your mind but for those who have spent many hundreds of hours researching you may find we disagree.

Differences in comorbidities between both groups is covered in the Lancet paper. Some comorbidities were greater in the placebo group and others greater in the treatment group.

What has been discovered through the hospital P2 and subsequent trials is the sng001 has a clear benefit for those people considered ‘breathless’ and this is the group the P3 trial is targeting.

Those observations were made in the day of P2 topline data release. Since that time there has been the peer reviewed publication in the Lancet of the full dataset.

There has also been release of datasets on SNG’s P2 COPD trial and P2 home trial, in vitro efficacy data, and progression on the independent US government backed Activ-2 trial from phase 2 to phase 3.

The job advert this week has convinced me a US gov contract is close. Why advertise for a second director of CMC now? They already have one person in place in this key role. Then consider this.

First key job requirement is - At least 15 years' experience in CMC and late stage product development.

So how would SNG convince someone with 15 years + of experience in late stage development/commercial manufacturing to come and join their company? IMO they can only head down this path of recruitment, and convince someone of that experience level to come and join them, if they know they have a significant contract available to them in the near term.

There is no covid fatigue as Brand states. Recent uplift in Mcap of Pfizer attests to that. News in Europe is dire around current covid wave.

There was much wringing of hands and frustration prior to P2 readout. Many sold out including some big funds. I expect to see contract news soon. I don't see the US government waiting to arrange a contract post readout. Preparations are needed now to ensure drug availability in the US in the depths of winter.

I am surprised the market is not pricing in a potential conditional pre-order deal like the one Merck got for it's ferret drug prior to completing it's P3 trial. That deal was worth $1.2b and was struck in June a few months prior to P3 readout. The US have agreed to a further $1b purchase post data readout and the drug is still without EUA.

SNG's new commercial director should be signing the contracts anytime now and the recruitment of a second director of CMC suggests discussions on volumes have been decided.

There are a number of covid therapeutic's that have received EUA much faster than 4-6 months, Eli Lilly (bamlanivimab) for example last year was about 5 weeks from memory. Merck's ferret drug made application 12th of October and the FDA is meeting 30th November to review/decide on the EUA application.
