In any other language I'd miss all the nuances, spoken or written by the locals. They say [who?]the English are lazy at learning other languages, only learnt English because I had to, and have the petitest smattering of French, early days I once ordered 5 hot chocolates when all I wanted was 2 coffees.

Ever since you said English isn't your first I've wondered how much of the word play on here you get.
You do have a good command of English, better then a lot here including me.
Not in the least am I being condescending or implying it, but how about the daedal artistry of our word play?

As an example, the latest Talking Codswallop.
We start with the original subject of MLQ's " a picture of a women and a man hitting her with a fish "
We have then, talking...self explanatory
Codswallop...meaning, talking rubbish which we were doing.
Cod, relating to the " fish " in the subject
If we then add wallop on it's own, it mean's to hit, relating to the " hitting ".

Not really trying to explain it to you, sure you got it anyway, but sometimes I like to pat myself on the back.

A drop of single malt it its to see the fish and the other fin al details.

I see a large women's face, a smaller man's face to the bottom of her chin. A young boy wearing either pantaloons or peddle pushers, and with a fair bit of imagination a t rex, sort of shape, dinosaur.

If you turn your screen onto the side, the two faces look a little like a mudskipper. You may need another swig for that one.

Had a hospital appointment couple of weeks ago on the way to the designated waiting room, reaching the top of the stairs, on the wall to my left is a board with the names of the four doctors who were in attendance.
The names of two which were a Dr Shipman and a Dr Crippen.
