Told this story before. During the property crash around 2009 I think, went to this property auction and nothing was selling so the auctioneer called me and offered it to me at reserve and I was stalling and eventually turned it down. Few months later interest started picking up in the media and it goes back into the auction and sells 60k or so higher due to the bidders battling for it. Same applies in shares.

They would rather pay a 30% premium than risk a 20% fall :)

You're spot on. Human nature tends to want to buy into a rising price. Like buying property when it's flying high and nobody buying when it's on the floor. They have it the wrong way around
